I built my rig 10 years ago now for FSX. I really didn’t think that it would run this new sim. But it does and fairly well on medium to high settings.
i72600k clocked at 4.5ghz HT off. 16gb slow RAM by todays standards and a GTX970. This sim runs better than any version of p3d or fsx ever has on this machine. Well done devs
New build in the works though
NIce pics. I was expecting FSX problems with my five year old PC, but it runs on High at 4K resolution smooth as glass! It might be because I replaced my GTX 980 with a RTX 2080, but I don’t know for sure. Still, five years old, only 16 gb RAM. Smooth. No stuttering. Love this sim!
Cheers, I know my ram and CPU are bottlenecking the 970. Been needing an excuse to build another sim PC and MSFS 2020 has finally got me going to do it. Old hardware will go to my kids. Intel built an awesome chip with the i72600k. Its been overclocked for 10 years and never missed a beat.
I have an old I7 3xxx something. It is multicore, though. Don’t know what difference that makes. I know very little about computers. When you rebuild get an RTX 2080. It’s a beast and a lot cheaper than a ti which you won’t need.
Just curious, what settings are you running with? and whats your FPS? friends of mine have similar setups so just curious what kind of performance they would actually get.
Everything on medium apart from lighting on high. Vsync on limited to 30fps. Seem to be getting a fairly stable frame rate but I’d imagine trying to fly over a big city in a complex airliner I would take a huge hit. For Bush flying its really good. Been planning to upgrade for a few years. This new sim has given me the push to do it now.
Tbh this machine has served me well since I built it. Been around sims for a long time and am really enjoying what we have now. Few bugs to work out but I’m sure it will be phenomenal in the next year or so.
thanks a lot for the reply!
I’m running an i7 2600k at 4.8ghz all cores and ht. I have a 5700xt and I’m running at 2560x1440 in ultra with both LODs turned down to 100. Runs fine at about 30-40fps. Not flown over New York though. Dev mode says GPU limited!!! Probably because its on PCIE 2.0
Yeah same here pcie 2. Asus p8p67pro motherboard. Was a high end FSX rig back when I built it lol
That’s the same as my MB. Cant believe how good this runs. Was going to upgrade to Ryzen 9 but not sure its worth it. Cores not running as fast as my 2600k and apparently FS only uses 4, (I might be wrong). The benchmarks I’ve seen don’t make me want to upgrade.
