I was flying above Alaska whole day and got iced visually many many times. I tried to enable and disable icing effects in menu while being already iced in the sky, and I insist - ICING EFFECT DOESN’T WORK in MSFS 2024. Zero efffect on speed and any behavior of a plane. ZERO! ))) Devs, are you making us fools? ))
What happens if you try this with a stock Asobo aircraft? I’m guessing that’s the F33.
Well, this plane is approved by msfs devs and being sold in official store inside game. So what am i supposed to do? Search for a plane which does good with ice effect? ) ALL THEM SHOULD DO THIS! ALL! Other way is inappropriate. Simple. I pay for all options work proper way.
Not quite correct. It’s a Third Party Carenado plane. It only has to pass certain stringent XBox Gaming related QA for security and functionality. Individual aircraft characteristics that speak to Fidelity (i.e., what does it do during Icing) isn’t part of that review. That’s on the aircraft manufacturer.
Contact Carenado and let them know your Voice of the Customer Feedback.
Look, this is the game devs’ problem (or how do they call them… i am not native english speaker), because they must approve what they sell. Simple. Other way it must be noted that some options DOESN’T WORK )
No, the Asobo Development team have NOTHING to do with approving a Third Party’s product.
That’s the XBOX team (for XBOX Gaming which covers both PC and Console).
If you really want to make a case Icing is not working, you have to try other airplanes to see if it’s a common problem. You’re free to do what you like. Good luck!
yeah XBOX team. i agree. I meant that me as a customer should have no complains on carenado.
Maybe you can advise a plane which is effected good by icing?
In my humble opinion, a simple test is the Asobo C172, either version. All it’s got is Pitot Heat and nothing else.
In FS2020, I had a cross-country trip in the G1000 C172 and crashed in the MidWest because the icing built up too fast and the plane simply stopped flying. So it worked back then.
thank you.
So contact Carenado. They made the aircraft.
Why even buy a Carenado plane?
The A2A Comanche is affected by icing, so much so that you have to conduct your flight to avoid the possibility as much as possible.
It cannot carry enough ice to fill a shot glass as in real life.
Off topic, but the Comanche’s windows can even fog up! I didn’t even know that and got kind of angry because I thought I had encountered a another MSDS bug until I noticed what had happened!! Such a great add-on!
Icing has both a visual effect, as well as the parasitic drag caused by ice buildup. Some mods increase the physical effects of icing by 4 times to make it more of a threat.
i had a very hard time finding icing in 2020, at least in the last years
in 2024 in the stock C172 i dropped out of the sky when flying through a blizzard
i could barely hold 5000 ft and full power gave me 2000 rpms
airframe icing and engine intake icing both seemed to be modelled
also keep in mind that icing can be turned OFF so you may to check that setting
