IFR Exam in Career mode cannot be completed due to ATC bug

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
In the IFR certification exam in Career mode, landing on the runway does not complete the exam for me.

It seems to bug out when intersecting the localizer and being told to contact tower. Upon contacting the tower, I get a “Warning” pop-up and the “Contact Tower” option in ATC is greyed out. I then cannot contact the tower at all. Approaching the runway does change the mission objective to “land on the runway”, but landing does not complete the exam.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Cessna 172

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

I’ve had this happen a few times as well on multiple different missions. Sometimes I can still complete the mission (with a pilot deviation), but sometimes the sim will stop tracking my progress all together and I have to restart the mission. If it happens, it’s when I try to use the ATC window for related functions instead of the D-pad shortcut, but does not happen all the time.

One possible workaround that I’ve found is I can click the COM 2 tab in the ATC window and get back in contact that way, but sometimes it will cause a flood of missed messages to come in and result in multiple deviations.

• yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• ATC advises me upon loading in that I need to acknowledge last transmission. Then asks me to rest my transponder to 3125. However I am unable to acknowledge any of the transmissions.

When I land and get to the hold short, i cannot acknowledge the taxi to parking instructions. Therefore i cannot complete the exam.

The C172 unfortunately only has one COM channel, so this workaround doesn’t work

I think I tried both using the number keys on the keyboard and clicking on the button in the ATC window, both with the same effect.

Really annoying because it keeps me from progressing in career mode and I’ve tried this 3 times now.

Accurate or not, the ATC window shows two com channel tabs in the 172 for me, specifically the Skyhawk version.

I had a similar issue, but I fixed it by manually changing the squawk code, which ATC asked me to do about 20 seconds into the mission for some odd reason. After that, flight following was as expected.

I had this on 1st attempt - 2nd attempt, I ignored ATC and didn’t change my XPDR code when asked initially. From there I was able to complete the flight by responding to ATC when the mission status prompted me to.

I think there are two separate ATC implementations clashing, the standard ATC for free flight and the ATC for the mission. I’ve found interacting with the standard ATC in a mission causes issues and the stages don’t complete correctly. I simply press the respond to ATC button when the mission dialog box tells me to.

• Yes, but it worked on the second try.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• I had this happen on my first IFR mission as well (first VIP mission). Had to restart the entire mission. In both cases it was somewhere around contacting the tower for landing. So far this means that I had this on every IFR mission I did, which is game breaking.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Yeah. Ive noticed that two. Ive even had two different controllers talking over each other. Tomorrow ill give this a try . Wheres the ignore button? Lmao

not an issue with atc but can’t complete the ifr test as it wont recognise me landing the plane. The land on the runway instructon doesn’t change after touchdown, its happened a few times, so I can’t complete. Hopefully will get fixed, thanks

Not sure if it’s an ATC issue or what, but the same thing happened to me. Landed but nothing happened.

Had the same thing happen to me. Landed on the runway, mission still asked me to land on the runway.

There were arrows on the ground to taxi but they lead to nowhere where I could stop my plane at parking. ATC was silent the whole time

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• I simply restart the mission, and it works. However, something occurs during the flight that causes the ATC to lose track.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

In addition to this bug, when it does work, the ATC clearance and approach setup conflict with each other.

The clearance is for the Runway 9 RNAV, yet the 27 RNAV is what’s loaded into the GPS. If it was correct, the aircraft would be approaching from the west on the RNAV 9 approach and continue the circle to land maneuver on Runway 24.

This would require/assume a downwind leg outbound on a heading of around 060 once the runway was made, flying right traffic with how the airport is arranged. And the circling approach would also assume that the pattern could be flown without reentering the clouds. When flown, I believe the runway became visible at around 250 feet, which would be dangerously low for a circling approach.

I am also having a similar problem. When i try to start one of the IFR certificate flights whether in the test portion or just training, the game freezes before allowing me to even hit the start button. I have reinstalled multiple times with no change.
