Brief description of the issue:
This is a tricky bug to replicate. It requires a GA IFR flight scheduled for take off at an uncontrolled airport whist you observe it.
What occurs is the IFR flight will request take off clearance from the “tower”, which doesn’t exist. Since it doesn’t receive clearance, it sits indefinitely waiting for the clearance that never comes.
What I unable to determine (I don’t know how ATC is coded) is if this bug is just a general ATC bug/anomaly, or if it is somehow tied to the incorrect model matching that often occurs with GA at smaller airfields.
In this screenshot the aircraft, in reality, is a Cessna T210 – a piston single – yet is being model matched as a small twin-jet airliner.
I’m wondering if, when the sim identifies an aircraft as an airliner, it is causing the confusion with a tower clearance request. That or it has nothing whatsoever to do with it and this is just a bug with ATC that happens occasionally.
I have experienced this several times now (at this specific airport – KPRB) and was finally in a position to capture a screenshot of the behavior. I’ve seen this with & without mods installed.
