IGN reviews MSFS 2024

An IGN reviewer gives MSFS a score of 9 out of 10. I give MSFS 2024 an 8 out of 10.
Tell me how would you score MSFS 2024

Probably a 7/10 (MSFS 2020 a 6/10)

When things are working how they should it’s a fair review

I would give it an incomplete. Ask again after the holidays.

For me personally (and in full recognition that others have issues) 9/10. It’s working great and delivering an exceptional flight experience. When it gets through its bug list, it may be the first sim I’ve ever thought ‘This is it, this is what I’ve been waiting for’ about.

If everything worked the way it was SUPPOSED to I would give it a 9.5/10.

Sadly at the moment the best I can offer is 5/10.

For how I am personally using the sim, a 9/10 at the moment for me as well. I am flying the Fenix A-320 and it is near bliss. Amazing atmospheric lighting, improved clouds and I have my performance dialed in nicely (locked 30 fps the entire flight using the dynamic performance). I just did an approach into KLGA this morning and only had a couple short stutters turning short final to 31 (using MK Studios KLGA). I have never been able to do that before as it has always been an area to avoid for me due to performance issues. I haven’t touched Career mode or many of the default aircraft and I know those areas need improvement. If the airport night lighting is fixed, it’ll be a 9.5/10…

9/10??? XD Have they even tried it or is it just a paid review?

I mean, Msfs2024 has the potential to be *** awesome. When it works it’s amzing and it does feel better than 2020. But it barely works… In a couple of months (hopefully) I do think it will be a 10/10 for me. But right it is not worth to be scored yet…

EDIT: and I don’t mean the server issues that seems resolved. I mean the huge amount of bugs, there is almonst nothing that works as intended. I’m writing this right now and not flying just because another career flight has CTD (the first tornado one) right at the score screen…

At this point in time, probably a 7.5/10. If they fix the bugs I’m sure it’ll go up to a 10 for me, the sim has a ton of potential.

With so many problems, bugs, crashes and not even being able to play a mission, I can’t even give a rating. I hope they are ashamed and work hard to earn a rating.

Now 8/10. In 1 year, with most bugs fixed, 10/10. No other game does anything close to what this game does. Although, in 10 years time, AI will most likely make 100x better game then this. Consider this to be a Swan Song of humans making game simulators.

I give it a C- 4/10

ChatGPT ‘reviews’ MSFS24

As an avid flight simulation fan, I can confidently say that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 takes the genre to new heights. From its stunning visuals to its attention to detail, this latest installment has far exceeded my expectations and has set a new benchmark for realism and immersion.

One of the most impressive features is the graphical fidelity. The world looks absolutely breathtaking, whether you’re soaring over bustling cities, cruising above tranquil countryside, or flying through dynamic weather systems. The inclusion of photogrammetry technology makes landscapes feel alive, with terrain textures that are incredibly detailed, especially in urban areas. The weather effects are also jaw-dropping, with realistic cloud formations, rain, and lightning that add a level of challenge to flights.

The new dynamic weather system is a game-changer. I’ve flown in challenging conditions, from thunderstorm systems to turbulence, which not only adds realism but also demands a more active and engaging flying experience. The changing seasons and real-time lighting further enrich the world, providing a new perspective on every flight.

The flight models are refined as well, with an even greater variety of aircraft available, ranging from small general aviation planes to massive airliners. Each plane feels unique, with its own set of challenges and nuances. The cockpit details are meticulously recreated, and the physics are as realistic as they come, making every takeoff, landing, and maneuver feel authentic.

For newcomers and experienced pilots alike, the training system and accessibility options are stellar. The tutorials are comprehensive, walking you through every aspect of flying, while the controls are customizable for both beginners and seasoned pros. Whether you’re flying with a simple gamepad or a fully equipped flight yoke, the experience adapts to your setup.

The multiplayer aspect is also a highlight, with seamless online interaction allowing you to share the skies with fellow pilots, whether they’re flying alongside you or taking off and landing at different airports.

Overall, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. It’s a must-have for aviation enthusiasts, delivering a truly immersive experience that offers endless exploration and challenges. Whether you’re flying for fun or training, it’s a game that never ceases to impress. This is the pinnacle of flight simulation, and it’s only going to get better from here.

IGN rates everything between 7/10 and 9/10, even if it’s a certified stinker. Ignore IGN reviews.

Not necessary. IGN is a mass media games company. They speak to 99% of gamers that don’t care about flight sims. Those peeps may touch career mode once or twice, flight mode a bit more, and move on. It’s not like most of gamers suddenly switch to flight simulators, no matter how good the game is. From that perspective, 9/10 seems fair.

I fail to see why any of that should have an impact on the review score. Besides, wasn’t career mode specifically meant to attract the more casual crowd? That alone should lower the score significantly.

Mmm… yeah, @morszczuk, I do see your point. If I were a casual gamer I would be amazed flying the superhornet at 1.2 mach ground level over my home, and doing the simple challenges and photo quests. I might not even notice any mayor problems…

I doubt they fired up career mode to see it.
I mean I don’t see any direct reference to career mode in their review. If it’s in there, I’m sure someone will point it out but I didn’t see it.

Jayztwocents made a video about 2024 and it was full of objective inaccuracies (like 2020 having a career mode to compare). Microsoft have content creators in full marketing mode. I don’t see why everyone is so surprised. Pretty much everything you see on the internet these days isn’t real.

IGN, just like youtubers, are for entertainment only. People who take them seriously deserve to get burned because it’s a known quantity at this point. Anyone that spends more than 30 minutes in career will see how broken it is. If they don’t, they are delusional at best, or a liar at worst.

Do you mean the IGN review linked in the OP? There’s a lengthy section entirely about Career Mode.
