ILS plane not flying flight plan

I know. That’s why I wrote it’s the same in MSFS speech. The key is the word inertial.
It’s the identical thing with FMC and GPS.

Never heard any horrible IRS sounds.
The ADI and HSI gyros used to be the noisest part in the cockpit…until the avionics cooling fans appeared!

edit: it’s not only an MSFS definition thing.
Inertial Reference System (IRS) - SKYbrary Aviation Safety

Also not 100% accurate. The lines between INS and IRS are a bit blurry, usually modern solid state systems are called IRS while older gyro-stabilized platforms are known as INS but some modern systems can be called INS as well.

INS usually refers to a gyro-stabilized platform kept aligned with true north and zero pitch / bank. Therefore the accelerometers on the platform measure north / south, east / west and vertical acceleration. Its an older system with conventional gyro’s but in operation you wouldn’t notice much difference other than it not being able to find its own geographical position if not entered into the FMC, it needs a starting point. Its also not as accurate as a modern IRS.

IRS usually refers to a solid state “strap-down” unit. It contains 3 ring laser gyro’s to measure aircraft attitude and three accelerometers to measure acceleration along all three axis of the aircraft. Instead of having an actual stabilized platform, this platform is created by interpretation of the accelerations combined with the attitude of the aircraft. This way the software essentially creates a stabilized platform.

But as said before there isn’t a well defined definition, a modern IRS can also be called a strapdown-INS for example.

Aviation… a world by itself ^^ I fly with a physical HSI :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The FBW A320 does deviate from the flight plan and its been reported and widely experienced. It just randomly starts heading towards a different way point or even destination airfield without any input from the ’ Pilot ’
By making use of the ’ Direct To ’ facility, you’re able to bring it back on track though.

This is the stock plane, guys above are right, no wonder it is not following the flight plan lol
@PZL104 just download FBW’s mod man

No way. Boeing all the way. Especially after having flown both for many years IRL.

B… but were you not complaining that your a320 did not work? I understand you prefer boeing (I imagine you are hyped for PMDG’s!) but if you are going to use the a320 use it with the FBW mod, the base one is super bugged.

I’m not complaining. I’m only flying the A320 if there are complaints to check if these are actual bugs.
I did beta test PMDGs original 747 and I bought their J41 and the MD-11.
Neither one had a realistic FDE.
Never tried one after that and AFAIK they couldn’t get the FD to work correct on their 737 for a few years.

The default A320 is quite useable IMO and light years ahead of the FSX A321.

Oh indeed it is, but it still has tons of issues, FBW have done an excellent job of patching most of them, so that is why I recommend it to you. Not only the systems are much deeper and the behavior of the plane closer to reality, but most bugs like the onw you show have been patched.

I’ve tried the FBW version a few month ago and it was already a very impressive improvement at that time.

The new one has a custom FPM and LNAV which has removed nearly all of the eccentricities of the stock Asobo implementation. It’s getting quite refined now, despite only being in the experimental build, and is the only A320 I’ve flown for some time now. Very much recommended.

Also looking forward to seeing what Fenix do with their ProSim implementation of the A320. Should also be interesting…

What’s FPM?

Flight Plan Manager - they’ve actually taken the Working Title CJ4 one (which was written from scratch for that aircraft) and ported it to their A320. My guess is that, in the fullness of time, this is what we’ll see in the core product from the newly integrated WT team.

Who are you referring to? I’m simply saying it’s very easy to spot the differences between the stock and modded A320. OP isn’t using the modded A320 so the build is irreverent.

54 posts later, it would be good to hear from the OP @RFG1022 as to whether the issue is resolved or not

Yes it was sorry. Ty

My waypoints often show from “time to time” on the display instead of ICAO codes. I don’t know what timeapp means in the latest FBWA320 either. Whenever this happens strange things occur. Sometimes it all goes well but the plane does a 180 shortly before reaching the final waypoint and returns. This is with only 2 waypoints created, departure and arrival using GPS.
