I have an i9 and an RTX2080TI. Can someone with a similar rig attest to whether there was a significant performance increase with the addition of the game ready MSFS specific drivers and or turning HAGS on?
What do you mean by HAGS?
Same rig here using the game ready driver.
Driver seems to optimze for very low graphic settings. Still I run MSFS on Ultra settings with good FPS, but wondering if the driver not just overwrites the ingame settings.
It does overwrite and set them. I noticed it turning everything down too. HAGS is hardware accelerated GPU scheduling, on Windows 2004.
I have the i9-9900KS and 2080ti but I see no difference as far as frame rate improvement. I have noted HAGS does keep the fans from ramping up on the card.
Had to look this up via Google.
Funny, I am on the newest driver (Windows and Nvidia) and I do not even see the HAGS option in the graphic settings in Windows.
It came out in something like May, but it wasn’t offered to me until a few weeks ago. MS recommends waiting for the update to appear. By that regard, you could both have the latest Windows available and not have the latest Windows.
Windows seems to have a life on its own. I can wait for that option to appear one day :-). Till then I will mess with the game ready driver to find the best balance vs. quality. Sorry I can not help over here.
Well it didn’t improve my performance or stutters. This game is so poorly built 30-50FPS feels like 5.
That does not sound too good. How much RAM does your systerm have and do you run it from an SSD?
Generally 30-50FPS is more than what was possible on older flight sims. I have to admit I did not even check my FPS since I have no stutters at all till now and performance is really good. Will see if this will stay like this when I cange to higher quality in the game ready driver.
Compared to all the sims before it runs really smooth for me out of the box. I had every flightsim since Microssoft Flight Simulator 95 and went all the way till P3Dv4.5
To make the long story below short: Game ready drivers seem not to work on my system and seem to mess up the sim.
I tried now playing around with the game ready driver bar to set the quality right. No matter what setting from optimal (which is rather low) to highest quality, they completly mess up the performance of the sim. You get stutters and flashes around the clouds (thought there is no thunderstorm).
I set it back to optimal and closed GeForce Experience, started the sim from desktop. In the general settings everything was now set to low. I set it to ultra and just went down one notch one some settings:
- grass and bushes HIGH
- anisotrpic filtering 8x
- texture supersampling 4x4
- ambient occlusion HIGH
- reflections HIGH
- bloom OFF
- lens correction OFF (might not be necessary I do not see a difference with this turned on)
Now I see the sim smooth again and of high visual quality. Maybe this helps against your stutters.
Good feedback.
To answer, I have 32Gbs of RAM, 11GB of VRAM and I run it from a M.2 NVME SSD.
Have the same amount of RAM and VRAM, very similar SSD.
