ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Using Daher TBM930 in VR, the designed distortion of the view due to engine exhaust is extremely over-exaggerated especially through the side window, and makes the flight extremely unpleasant. This is present on the ground and in the air, and is more noticeable when the engine is on full power.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?

No. It only was noticeable afte Beta1.4.10

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes, present without any mods.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Switch to VR
  2. Choose Daher TBM930
  3. Take off at any airport
  4. Look out of the side window.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:
Quest 2 in VR

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
No

[PC Only] Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version:
NVidia GTX1080Ti

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

I have a post similar to this but in the Draco while using HP Reverb G2.

It’s like a very thin rectangle in front of my view and the exhuast shimmers while contained in the rectangle. I tried to get a pic of it with my phone but it didn’t turn out well.

This may be a separate issue though as its inside the cockpit… anywhere I move my head it is mostly centered in the frame… about 30% of my view contains exhaust shimmers.

You can see the defined edge of the right side and lower right side of the this fuzzy area though

I’ve never really used the Draco so I didn’t notice this. For me (Quest2), the effect in the Draco is very bad, affecting both eyes differently and worse than you describe. Many of the controls are affected, including the throttle and several buttons, and my mouse seemed to stop working in this area.

It is definitely the exhaust fumes, as they disappeared the moment I switched the engine off. Moving around the cabin the effect changed significantly. At least with the Daher, the fumes are in the right place, just over-exaggerated. In the Draco, they are in the completely wrong place, and not even modelled correctly.

Do you think it has got worse with SU2 beta?

Same with the Draco. This was fixed in SU1.
Reappeared now in SU2 beta..

Thank you for adding this to the list. I haven’t used the Draco since SU2 beta started, but I’m not surprised that this has affected several aircraft. The Daher used to be my favourite in FS2020, which is why I’m so disappointed they screwed it up (in several ways) in FS2024.

It would be useful for the developers to know which other aircraft have been affected, if anybody else can help. Thanks.

This was one of my “go to” GA airplane and now we cannot use it because of this bug. Great! There’s another issue in VR about the overhead panel rendering which makes it impossible to use as well.

For the Daher, there are certainly several backward steps in FS2024 compared with FS2020, in addition to this latest exhaust gases mis-step - in particular performance is reduced, badly incorrect windscreen reflections, unusable ATC and poor general VR compatibility.

How could so many features go backwards when releasing what was trailed as an upgrade?

Returning the exhaust gas effect to the same level as in FS2020 would at least be a first step on the road to achieving parity with the supposedly obsolescent version.

I opened a new bug concerning this issue in the draco but it was merged into this bug:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/vr-mode-draco-x-exhaust-gases-inside-cockpit-only-in-right-eye/685096/65

This was NOT a good idea because this bug was solved in su1. The new issue is different! It is in both eyes and related to foveated rendering. If you turn fr off this problem will be gone! Maybe it’s the same in the Daher.

Thank you, I seperated them out appropriately:
