Impossible to land in first SAR mission in Chile?

Hi there, I just spent the last 2 hours trying to complete the first aircraft SAR mission (on the west coast of S.America - I think in Chile) in a cubcrafters X-Cub.

Finding the casualty and doing a low pass was ok but I found it impossible to land the plane - each time I land the wheels dig into the ground and the plane flips over and crashes.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions where and how to land?

Thanks!

I had the same issue! I wish I had a better solution but for me the plane tipped over onto one wheel/wing but then rocked back onto its wheels on my third attempt.

I also watched this attempt on YouTube: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/LUgscch1fjw

Approach from the valley heading approx 340 towards the car, flying slightly upwards because the landing is uphill.

Make sure to reduce speed slowly and at the end of the landing turn the cub facing slightly downhill for takeoff, while it is still rolling. Otherwise you might get stuck in the sand.

If you come to stop too early and the guy won’t come you can get out an walk to him, as long is it is less than 500m. If it’s more, the mission fails because of abandoning the plane.

Wow - thank you so much that is very helpful, I will try that! :grinning:

Just to follow up, the method described in this thread by @ginkgobilbao worked perfectly, thanks so much! :slightly_smiling_face:
