I do not have rudder pedals. So when I want to brake I use the keyboard, or a button on my joystick/yoke.
In the current version (1.9.3.0) the braking ramp up and down does not feel good.
Button response feels extremely sluggish :
- When first pressing the brake button, nothing happens for the first half a second
- When you release the brake button, there is a long hysteresis where the game keeps braking hard for a bout half a second again, and releases all brakes all at once
Moderate braking by repeatedly pressing and releasing the brake button results in inconsistent results :
- From no braking : it feels like nothing happens until you have cycled 10 times
- From hard braking : the braking action does not go down smoothly, you either cycle quicker than the hysteresis and the braking action remains high, or you cycle slower then the hysteresis and the braking action falls rapidly to zero
Please revamp the braking controls to make the brakes feel responsive and controllable when using the keyboard / buttons. Because we do not all have rudder pedals with analog controls…
This isn’t just an issue with braking. If you are using buttons on a keyboard or xbox controller to control throttle up or down or trim you will experience the same thing. For example, hold A for throttle up for 1-2 seconds it goes from 0-50% and when you release at 50% it continues on until almost 100%. Further, as the black throttle knob travels towards the dashboard, the speed at which it moves is not linear: in the first second from 0-50% it may move from 0-10%, then the speed ramps up and the next 40% occurs within the next second. In FSX, the speed of the throttle is constant and linear and makes for really smooth controls.
However, they said for Update 5 that they will be addressing Flight Control sensitivity, which is needed. Hopefully it fixes this weird issue with buttons along with the lack of ability to adjust the sensitivity of the in-game flight controls. Think of it like the game is missing the ability to adjust the speed at which the in-game flight controls move relative to the duration of a button press or the change in position of an input device AND hopefully the button press provides a linear rate of movement of the flight controls.
Yes, you break and they continue
Perhaps 2 or 3 braking button options could be opened up, for low, medium and hard braking action. Even better would be to have this per wheel.
Example:
, left light brake
. both light brakes
/ right light brake
RCTRL , left medium brake
RCTRL . both medium brakes
RCTRL / right medium brakes
RShift , left hard brake
RShift . both hard brakes
RShift / right hard brake

Hello. I am new to MSFS. I usually use jet airliners. I am having the same braking problem. I have not experienced this problem in previous FS versions (FS9,FSX). I have a really hard time during the taxi. I would love to find a solution to this.
