[In Development] Aeroplane Heaven de Havilland Mosquito

A Mosquito is coming from AH according to their Facebook page. Looks to be MSFS2020 again.

I surely hope that it’s compatible with 2020. I don’t begrudge the 2024 crowd a bite of this particular cherry but I’ll be as sore as hell if I can’t get it. I have been campaigning for a ā€˜Mozzie’ for a very long time. Well done AH and thank you. Thanks EnjonUK too, absolutely made my day. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Mixed feelings here.

:star_struck: I’m VERY delighted the Mossie is coming, it’s such an iconic aircraft and has been top of my wish list for a long time!

 My own experience with AH aircraft hasn’t been that positive, however things seem to be trending in the right direction with recent releases (which I don’t own) so I’ll reserve judgement until the reviews come in. Perhaps they wouldn’t have been my top choice of dev for one of my favourite aircraft but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt!

 Looks like it’ll be a native FS2020 aircraft. It may well work ok in FS2024 but I’m going to pass until there’s a native FS2024 version, just as I did with the Lancaster. I’m paraphrasing, but I recall AH have stated they aren’t ready to develop in FS2024 until it’s stable. While I get that FS2024 is a complex beast, and a challenge, it’s one that other devs have risen to, and released excellent aircraft in the new modular format. As per a recent comment from Azurpoly, the modular format allows for super detailed models AND better performance… win-win! While it’s not an airliner, the Mossie and the Lancaster are both detailed and complex aircraft and I have to believe they’d benefit from the new modular architecture. Comments from AH about their Lancaster suggested that a native FS2024 version would be a separate product, so I assume the same will apply to the Mossie. I completely sympathise with that and I don’t think free upgrades are good for sustainable business, but it does mean I won’t be parting with any money until the FS2024 version comes along.

Still, to finish on a positive I think it’s excellent news that the MSFS community will get to fly the legendary Mosquito. My own self-imposed restriction on waiting for a native 2024 version won’t stop lots of others from enjoying this aircraft! I just need to be patient!

I am right there with you. I don’t want to purchase a product twice, or at a higher price (orig. price + upgrade fee) if they release for native 2024 when they decide to finally move to 2024. I fly exclusively in 2024 now and have slowed my purchases of 2020 products and have been ramping up my 2024 purchases.

I suspected that I am not the only one doing that, and if they wait too long to start developing 2024 native products, they may start loosing potential sales.

I passed on the Lancaster, will pass on the B-25, and will pass on this one until / if there are 2024 native versions. That is a potential 75-100 USD sales loss.

Just my opinion.

I’m not sure I agree they’re ā€œlosingā€ any business. It sounds like you guys will purchase it when it’s released. And they’re getting the 2020 sales from people who’ll buy there. And it’s likely if those people ever upgrade, they’ll purchase the 2024 version if they want it. 2020 aircraft are a TON easier to develop and get working. So, getting their feet wet and getting an understanding of the market for their 2020 planes, will help them better develop for 2024 when they get to that. And they get all the sales now instead of a year down the road as they learn how to develop for 2024. And, really, given their history, yeah AH… take your time developing for 2024. Stop making lazy mistakes that cause most of your issues.

IOW, their marketing plan sounds like a win-win for them to me. And, personally, right now, I prefer 2020 planes. And, yeah, if I get back into simming again, this will be an immediate purchase!

But, I do totally understand your disappointment they’re not ready to release for 2024 yet.
