In-Flight Display Failure and Navigation Disruption (Xbox Series S)

Issue Description:
During flight sessions on the Xbox Series S, the aircraft’s primary displays experience a complete blackout, rendering the aircraft’s instrumentation unusable. This critical failure necessitates immediate flight termination. Concurrently, the aircraft’s navigation system ceases to follow the pre-programmed flight plan upon the onset of this display issue. The occurrence of this problem appears to correlate with periods of performance lag. Given a stable internet connection, the underlying cause is suspected to be either a software bug or a performance limitation of the Xbox Series S hardware under high processing load.

Frequency:
This issue occurs approximately 40% of all flight attempts on the Xbox Series S.

Affected Aircraft:
• Vision Jet
• Boeing 737 Max

Reproduction Steps:
The issue occurs randomly during flight on the Xbox Series S, and the precise trigger is currently undetermined. However, it is strongly associated with instances of performance lag.

I experiencing a similar issue. Every few minutes the whole image goes black for a few seconds and than returns to normal.
It happens in MSFS 2024 using VR.

• This problem also occurs with the A320v2 and A330/900. These aircraft appear to severely impact the performance of Xbox and/or PCs.

• I experience the same issue around 75% of time when flying any of the passenger jets, eg A320, A330, B747, B787 etc. I have Xbox Series S also and fast internet connection so suspect it is the hardware struggling to keep up.

• YES

• Occurs on Boeing 787-10. Blackout on all display panels occur before a take off as well as while in flight. Shut down and restart the console sometimes fixes the problem but may require several restarts.

I experienced this issue approximately five times this morning, resulting in the inability to complete a flight. The application exhibited severe lag, characterized by stuttering, freezing, and occasional crashes.

I also have the same problem, it has gotten worse and now I am unable to complete any flight due to displays blacking out, I have it on all aircraft I use, specifically PMDG777 and inibuilds a320neov2. Doesn’t even stop when I restart my Xbox series S. Any fixes?

I’ve yet to discover a consistent fix for this problem. As a workaround, when nearing my destination, I resort to hand-flying the aircraft and attempting a landing without navigational aids, a maneuver I’ve become proficient in. Unfortunately, total screen blackouts during manual control result in severe performance degradation, with noticeable lag and stuttering. Attempting a landing under these conditions is highly precarious. Although the desire to avoid aborting a lengthy flight and losing progress is understandable, this bug poses a serious threat to gameplay.

• I have exactly the same issue.

• So far has happened to me in the Vision Jet, King air and the CRJ will find out if PC-12 is the same this week but I can only assume it will. Always happens if I use autopilot on fights more than an hour, followed by a long time of and flying. It sometimes happens when on the ground taxiing, mostly happens during approach, sometimes happens randomly in cruise. I used to increase sim rate but not anymore for obvious reasons. Once it happens it keeps autopilot engaged but disengages altitude hold. NAV mode is gone completely and HDG mode or FLC can’t be activated. Once the blackout happens, the screen stuttering on approach becomes unbearable, all the while praying to god the plane hasn’t crashed while waiting for the sceen to come back. If I do manage to keep it on he runway and park etc, I have to shut it down manually because the auto shut down procedure desnt work (not great if you don’t know how to do that). Try another mission and the avionics screens are black to start with and nothing will turn them on. The only thing that fixes it is to restart the game. I restart the XBOX because it takes the same amount of time. I have also been deleting reserved space on the XBOX S before restarting in the hopes that it will fx it-it doesn’t.
