In the External Camera view -- Airplane default position too low?

When in external camera view and circling the plane as the center of focus, the default aircraft position sits in the bottom third of the camera’s view/screen. Does anyone know how to make the plane’s default position more towards the center of the screeen?

Couldn’t find much out about this.
Thanks,
M.

If you have an Xbox type controller, there are several commands you can bind to any of the Joysticks , and move the view at will, I use one mounted on my Alpha Yoke, and that is one of the many ways I use it. I also use an old Wingman Rumble Pad from Logitec, that adds joysticks, buttons, triggers, etc., and the amount of bindings you can have is unbelievable, this is found very cheap in eBay for instance. You can a.so use the keyboard, but is not practical for these commands. Cheers

Thanks for your answer and help. I know how to move the camera view around. My question is if there is a way to set the default position of the airplane so that it’s in the center of the external camera view.

Right now, it sits near the bottom of the screen. You can pan around it with the camera all you like, but it’s position remains off center at the bottom third of the computer monitor screen – unless you’re turning or climbing; then it briefly moves into center screen.

No. The generic external view has always had the aircraft too low in my opinion. In certain circumstances, the plane is almost completely out of the frame. I have never understood what the reason for this is (it’s as though the devs wanted to show off the clouds or something). The ‘free camera’ view allows you to adjust the camera pitch and “center” the aircraft in the display, but not the external view (with the HUD)

Thanks, Dizzy. I usually use showcase camera with drone lock mode on, but it’s handy to use the mouse to swirl around the plane in External camera. I’ll end up getting an x-box controller for my external views. That, or if someone could create a camera plug-in for MSFS that made more sense than the default.

To be honest, I’m really surprised at the clunky, unintuitive, non-ergonomic nature of the entire GUI and its navigation. It’s really incredibly clunky. I can’t comprehend why MS would spend all that money on the program and have an interface of such bizarre and difficult visuals and navigation.

Just my opinion.

I can adjust the external view with the HUD.

There is no way to adjust the external camera in any way.

Firs thing I noticed when I got MSFS last year was how the external camera had the plane sitting so far down on the screen that most of the time a piece of it is off the screen completely. It’s really messed up, and can even give me a headache sometimes as it really throws off your sense of balance. Especially as someone with mild OCD it’s really irritating to have everything off center for no reason at all.

I’ve yet to hear any response from the devs or any logical reason at all of why they would force this poor design choice on us without the ability to adjust it. Hoping for a solution to this some day…

Until you try it, you won’t know. I use the right Joystick in my Xbox controller mounted on my Alpha Yoke. I use the following bindings:

External Camera
External View Look Up
External View Look Down
External View Look Right
External View Look Left

I also use the same Joystick for:
Drone Camera
Pitch Drone Up and Down, etc
Slew Mode
Slew Pitch Down and Up, etc

I hope this help with your “no way to adjust stance”. Cheers
