Incorrect Labelling of Gates at International Airports

Lots of parking spots attached to the airport terminal incorrectly labelled as Ramp GA SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE.

A good example is EGHQ that regularly accommodates A320 with stairs at one of 2 or 3 RAMP GATE MEDIUM. No pushback tug, stairs, baggage, catering services available as all labelled Ramp GA.

Also EGLL which rarely accommodates GA has over half the parking areas labelled as this instead of GATE MEDIUM, GATE LARGE.

At EGLL when taxi to the gate is requested, am sent to general aviation parking. Same in Milan, and Copenhagen. Surely when flight plan has been filed to a specific parking spot that should be assigned once checking in with atc GROUND.

[Heathrow ground Orbit 513 clear of the runway at Echo, requesting taxi to the gate] is what one would expect to hear no?

Please sort it out and get rid of the surplus general aviation parking at major international airports. In real life GA typically use smaller airports and are away from busy passenger terminals.

The parking and gate setup in MSFS is very poorly implemented. With the heavy reliance on AI to develop airports, I’m surprised that Asobo hasn’t ingested all the terminal charts available and scrubbed them with their AI to at least get the right taxiway numbers and the correct parking ramps for GA, commercial, and military (speaking of…having some deftault military cargo aircraft on the ramps for military aircraft would be a nice way to improve immersion). At least for the US, all those terminal charts are freely available.

I agree. Maybe they could review the airports consecutively based on passenger numbers annually pre-covid. The first thousand majors only account for fewer than 5 percent of airports in the sim.

Is it fair to consider any airport that gets at least 1 50-seat flight daily as more than just a GA airfield? Ofc if you are visiting with a Dash8, Emb-145 or something you would be expecting the fuel truck, pushback, power cart and baggage services on the ramp so the parking spot being classed correctly is very important.

In fact anywhere you’d find a “check-in” or baggage drop will need a baggage service on the ramp.

I use the navigraph charts. Usually the GA apron is marked on the charts. I plan my rollout and runway clearance turn direction to be able to taxi to the GA apron. After requesting gnd taxi instructions, it quite often sends you to some remote GA parking are at times on the opposite side of the airport. I mostle fly the TBM so use the GA parking. This is annoying.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons?

No

Brief description of the issue:

AI parking assignments are either incorrect or nonexistent so AI park at gates they would never be parked at in the real world. Some scenery designers set parking assignments with their sceneries, but even then, some are incorrect or quickly out of date. Other sims had tools where users could customise AI parking codes and sizes to make them more accurate to real world operations, but tools for MSFS are not available.
