I was really excited that walk around items was added in 2024! I just wished that you had to click each individual cover, pin or chock to remove them. It feels a bit like it’s defeating its purpose if you can stand by the door and click one pitot cover to remove all of them. If a user wants to skip this phase then they should just be able to do so from the tablet.
I don’t think there is any limitation in place on the core sim that would prevent developers from adding individual covers to an aircraft to be removed.
As I mention this I want to point out it’s a decision per aircraft, so a level of fidelity which would be considerable for premium add-ons.
On the default aircraft it’s most likely a compromise between realism and usability, which is fine with me as in most cases the pilot would anyway not be the one who removes this stuff (you’ll find multiple pitot and sensor covers mostly on airliners on which these are usually removed by the ground crew).
Since what time do they all remove by clicking on one item? For me I always had to click every item one by one (except wheel chocks, may be) at least on default planes. And Alt-Q key combination removes all of them instantly. At least on PC.
I would agree with this considering Fenix has done a great job (no surprise) at modeling exactly this. You have to click each individual chock, not even one click for a pair - meaning the front wheel takes two clicks, front chock and back chock. As long as the option remains to do a “quick preflight” to instantly remove everything as some users desire, I think making the preflight process more realistic is always a good thing.
