Inibuilds A320neo cockpit sounds are too loud when near idle thrust

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Cockpit audio for A320 is messed up in MSFS24. When at idle power (around 19% N1), the audio is really loud. It then peaks at around 25% N1, and then starts decreasing as N1 increases. Although, this doesn’t sound like engine audio. It’s more like the packs airflow or something else. This issue is not present in other aircraft like A321 or A330.

I’ve also noticed that if you spawn on runway with engines already running, there’s absolutely no audio in cockpit. I believe there’s an already existing post created for this.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
A320

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
I don’t have any mod/add-ons for A320 or anything that affects sounds.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load in the aircraft (cold and dark).
  2. Start both engines.
  3. Make sure both packs are ON.
  4. Increase the thrust to see how the audio peaks at 25-30% N1 and then starts becoming less loud at N1 > 30%.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:
Not relevant.

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
No.

• Yes

• Xbox series X. Packs sound increases up to 30% N1 and then starts to drop away

Hi, I wrote to INI in the INI forum and asked that the volume of the electrics and ventilation in the cockpit be reduced or that a slider be placed in the tablet like in the A300-600. The reaction from INI was not very satisfactory → INI’s answer: “please go to the MSFS forum and let them vote.” I personally think that INI can implement this on its own, right?

The problem with aircraft that are included with the sim is that Microsoft/Asobo need to specify the changes required and contract/pay inibuilds to make those changes

Edit: But I should add that if it’s not completely game-breaking, the won’t pay for it so it won’t get fixed until there is lots of things needing fixed that make it more worthwhile to do a large update

ok thanks for your info, it’s a pity that we have such a situation, I actually like the planes from INI very much

I’m also a big fan of inibuilds planes. Very impressive quality for default aircraft and the A300 is amazing. Looking forward to the A350

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

YES

Sound issue is clear and needs a fix.

Thanks.

Confirmed - I’d use the A320neo much more often if this was solved as it runs very nicely in the sim. It seems like a common issue across the Airbus family by Inibuilds - doesn’t happen in 2020 though, only 2024.

I’ve just found that if I turn on the LOUDNESS LIMITER option in SETTINGS/SOUNDS, it really helps with the issue of the cockpit sounds of the A320N being way too loud. This option wasn’t enabled in my sim.

Could it be that the reason why this obvious bug is not reported by many simmers is that most people (including the devs) have this option turned on already?

In general, iniBuilds really need to do some work on the sounds.

The sounds themselves are good, no bugs there. But the way they are mixed is bugged.

It is hard to explain, but it is like there can only be one ‘total volume’.

So you have the systems sounds - air con packs for example, and then when the engine sounds are added spooling up, the system sound goes down to make way for it. This should not happen, the system sound should stay at the same level, but you hear less of it as you hear more of the engine.

Same with when climbing, and the engine noise dies out, it is like the environmental, wind noise, for example, gets louder as the engine noise fades away. No it shouldn’t get louder, just you hear more of it as the engine sounds die down, but it is not getting louder in itself.

So like, if the total volume is 100% and of that 90% is coming from packs, and 10% from engine. When the engines spool up, it should not be 100% volume- 70% from the engines and 30% from the packs. It should be 190% total volume, 90% from packs, and 70% from engines. I.e. The engines have got louder as spooled up, so you hear more of them, yes, you hear less of the packs because the engines are also running, but the packs should not get quieter in themselves.

I hope this makes sense, it is hard to explain for me.

I am seeing the same issue too. It’s unbearable and spoils the sim. Tried different sound setttings but it doesn’t change anything.

Have the same exact problem and I also think the sound mix is messed up. The sounds in the cockpit should be lowered as they are way too loud.

Seems fixed for me in SU2 beta :crossed_fingers:

Edit: NOPE

■■■■ really hoped SU2 would be the one. I fly the Fenix mainly but used to like the Neo for a bit of a change. I’m surprised this hasn’t been picked up by more people, it’s really noticeable and has 100% reproduction..

I think I may have found the root of the problem.

The ventilation sound is at maximum when it’s set to automatic. If you press the blower button, the ventilation sound decreases.

I understand it should be exactly the opposite, since automatic should regulate the fan speed (and decrease the noise), and pressing it sets OVERRIDE, which puts it at maximum.

Interestingly enough I just did a quick circuit and the problem has disappeared once again - so maybe it’s been fixed in the latest build of the sim?

Have to say, coupled with the fluidity of the frame rate increase it’s a cracking aircraft…

Live build is SU1 or are you talking of beta SU2?
On SU1 the problem is still there, I flew the A320 yesterday.

Yes, sorry I am on SU2 beta
