[iniBuilds] OMDB - Dubai International Airport

Really nice airport this. Once I had figured out that I had to uninstall the Asobo OMDB first, as they sit on top of each other and look odd otherwise with duplicate jetways etc. The freebie skydive add on from Ini isn’t required if you have Orbx Dubai pack installed, which has more POIs. The skyline looks great on departure this morning. I’m going to do more in and out of OMDB. Ini’s OMAA and it’s freeware Yas Island accompanying add on is also excellent.

This one interests me but I have Orbx Dubai pack also. I’m sure that I need or want both.

Are you on Xbox? If on PC it’s easy to uninstall the Asobo one. Though they said in a stream recently that you shouldn’t have to. The sim apparently is supposed to check for 3rd party addons first, before rendering.

I’m on PC. Not sure how XBox handles duplicate scenery, but I can assure you that there were two airports sitting on top of one another this morning before I removed the Asobo version & duplicate jetways etc. Terminal window textures were opaque, where as Ini’s version has nice glass windows.
The Orbx Dubai pack works very well with Ini’s OMDB (more landmark buildings). The Ini free one (skydive, probably not free on XBox) is nice if you don’t already have Orbx Dubai pack, which is very nice. I was watching the landmarks as I climbed out this morning.

I’m on PC as well, so you think the airport is a good addon with Orbx landmarks? I might go for that then

If you have Orbx Dubai landmarks then yes it works really well. If you don’t then Ini’s freebie skydive ad on is worthwhile.

PC Version

I had the same issue for a week before I finally got what I wanted: ORBX Dubai working with Inibuilds OMDB combined with the Inibuilds Skydive and landmarks.

  • Deleted all Dubai addons, including the default Asobo OMDB
  • Yep, had to delete the default Asobo OMDB
  • installed ORBX Dubai, Inibuilds Skydive Dubai and Landmarks, and finally Inibuilds OMDB
*** Used the Package Reorder tool (Options → Experimental) to move the Inibuilds OMDB to the bottom of the scenery list (or highest priority “0”)

The only downside is that although I now have the Dubai Mall and other POI’s, I lose the Inibuilds night lighting on the ferris wheel (which looks spectacular) and the canopys near it. Meh, a worthy tradeoff to get all three working at the same time though.

I actually deleted the Inibuilds OMDB after I bought it because I couldn’t get it to work with ORBX and Inibuilds scenery - even after I deleted the Asobo OMDB. For me, the default OMDB was okay as long as I could have the Dubai scenery from ORBX and Inibuilds Landmarks working. Otherwise, it just wasn’t worth re-exploring in the area. It took me a week of frustration before I finally deleted all the Dubai scenery and then reinstalled and reordered them to get them all to work (acceptably).

Inibuilds OMDB

The Dubai Mall from from Inibuilds Dubai Skydive and Landmarks (This isn’t modeled in the ORBX Landmarks)

I think I still get some of Inibuilds’ night lighting on the buildings

But, I definitely sacrifice the Inibuilds night lighting on the Ferris Wheel and canopys :slightly_frowning_face:

Interesting thanks. As a poster pointed out the Ini pack misses out some key buildings that the Orbx pack doesn’t but it is freeware. Ini does do really good night lighting on their scenery. You can’t argue there. I’ve not really messed with the reorder tool so.

It is, I had uninstalled Asobo OMDB before I started this flight. Perhaps my lower LOD’s don’t do it justice.

Is there any update for this or the 2 Abu Dhabi sceneries coming out for XB yet?

This and Abu Dhabi are finally out for XB, but if you have premium deluxe, Dubai conflicts with the Asobo handcrafted.

LOD on both airports, shocking, as expected on XB

Then you just uninstall the Asobo one from the content manager.

You cannot do that on Xbox

From this comment I’m assuming these both have the same terrible Inibuilds LOD on Xbox as some of their other sceneries do?

It’s truly awful unfortunately, yes
