iniBuilds Spartan 7W Executive - next Premier Aircraft

I wouldn’t state that these planes are simple compared to airliners. Ok, it depends the level of detail and possible failures but these constant speed radial engines can get quite interresting in termes of temperature, mixture, carburator, propeller pitch, fuel and performance management and the related physics and sounds. It’s also way different between a turbofan and a single huge propeller that creates an airflow that tries to stir the plane on the left when full power at takeoff, etc… Performances needs to be really sharp compared to the POH as these plane are often flown in dead reckonning, taking off and landing on tiny airfields made of grass that can drastically change the takeof distance if wet. As it’s a taildragger, it requires a tight landing speed to avoid bumps. I might be wrong but I have the feeling that these planes might be (for different reasons) as complexe as an airliner to bring to a flight simulator. But what a cool plane to fly if well done  And what a reward to do a full smooth flight without a bump at landing ;). I do hope that Inibuild will commit on details, system deepness and failures as much as they did for their A350. That can be quite a plane to fly also in career mode  I also hope they will integrate the option to have a GTN that can make life really easier. It would be cool that they share some news or pics on progress

The fact that they have no plans to update their Bf108 and P-40 for 2024 is a bit of a red flag for me, especially for this type of aircraft, so I’ll probably pass on this one.

They must have hired some external devs to do these planes and once the contract is over they are now abandonware. Same with the Mu-2, they did a horrible horrible job and now it is abandoned too.
I hope A2A can magically emerge with the Aerostar soon and then I would not need to worry about getting or not this one.

So what are the chances this is a purchased and revamped HCG 7W, since that author joined a studio and started working on different products?

I would say chances are higher than zero because HCG withdrew the 7W from the market and that is probably needed if you sold the assets to a third party.

Is he still selling on FS.to? There was a post from this January in that product thread saying as such.

You are right it is still selling in .to so I guess the ini version will be a different model.
Curious choice given that there are about 17.893 aircraft you can chose that are not being offered in the sim.

I’d be happy to be proven wrong but I too doubt Ini is going to make a great GA plane.

They make good airliners, but GA planes need a bit of an X-factor to be fun instead of just detailed systems and such. They need a personality to really be engaging and that’s something I haven’t seen Ini do. Hey, again, if this thing turns out to be a masterpiece, AWESOME, but I’m not holding my breath.

Now, A350 looks great, and that’s up their alley. I’m not really planning on getting it because I don’t do a ton of long haul, and I already have the 777 plus the PMDG 747 seems to be coming into the not terribly distant future(still pretty distant, but the 350 doesn’t do anything for me over the 77F. Still vaguely tempted)

Any news on this? February been and gone…

When I pinged to see where the FS2024 paint kit was for the previous Premier Aircraft (T-33), it sounded like the whole company was heads-down in A350 stuff.

Hopefully now that the tubeliner is out the door, they can get back to focusing on the historical aircraft as well. Sadly, I get the impression that the money’s in the systems-management-vs-piloting aircraft, but hopefully they’ll continue putting some of the effort into stuff like the Spartan and Shooting Star as well.

I still have the 7w from 2020 and it works. I will wait patiently for the inibiulds version to come out and enjoy the 2020 version while I wait. Its a little rough around the edges, but fun to fly.

Its out!
I will pick it up sometime after I get home from the office today

I don’t know why I keep falling for it with iniBuilds aircraft. First impressions are not great, but maybe it’ll grow on me? Texture work is very poor, some strange color grading issue throughout, even in their promo video so they definitely should have caught it. I’ll elaborate more later, but I’d hold off and wait for reviews. The sounds are very nice. Echo 19 is kind of carrying this one, in my opinion. I think HCG’s representation of the Spartan is more my style, it’s a shame he threw in the towel on payware. I’d just fly his and map the sounds to this one in a perfect world. I’d love to see more panel/color options in the future. I’ll only be flying the classic version, and I think white and blue is all we get. It could be worse for the price, but the bar has been set higher by many developers and I hope ini puts some serious thought into improving their GA aircraft quality.

I have been very happy with the T-33, So I will grab this one and give it a try.

I think with a couple of patches it’s fine. My list of gripes that soured the first impression:

  • Can’t seem to hide the EFB. It’s in the way of the compass on that modern panel.
  • On the modern panel version, my avionics don’t work at all.
  • On the modern panel version, the landing lights are bound backwards. Turning them on with my Honeycomb Alpha turns then off and vice versa, reversed from all other aircraft I own.
  • On the classic panel version, the color issue I mention is especially bad, but it’s present in all variants inside and out.
  • The aileron response rate is like turning a cruise ship. I’ve not flown a real Spartan but it just rolls slower than seems physically possible.
  • The elevator response is the opposite of the aileron, very sensitive. It can be trimmed out, however.
  • The modern panel version has only one livery (why? Is it not the same exterior model?)
  • There’s an option for modern panels with a classic cabin, but not a classic panel with modern cabin (would be my preference, I’m a sucker for the gimmicky lighting in the modern panel version!)
  • At over 2000 FPM (way too easy to hit) the dial swaps to -2000 fpm
  • Default camera angle is really bad.

The sounds as I mentioned are really nice. It just feels like ini didn’t put this through very thorough testing before release, or didn’t address feedback, one or the other. I’ll hold out hope that we get some of the issues fixed in a patch.

It’s a larger gripe I have with several developers that I want to vent here briefly: Just releasing it without much hands-on promotion and it landing with all these little quality issues that add up seems like a waste of time. Put in the effort, do betas, listen to beta feedback, stand behind your work proudly, show it off with content creators, fix what they and their communities don’t love, communicate openly with customers along the way! It’s a simple recipe for success (success being loyal customers and increased sales!)

Thanks for the points above.

Does the modern panel include an ADF? There is a gauge looking like a RMI behind the EFB but I quite can’t see it.

It may be linked to NAV1 and NAV2 though as I do not really see an ADF radio on the panel :grimacing:

Good question! I’ll check it out when I hop in next, I only had time for a quick flight before I had to jump into a meeting. I also want to test the modern version’s autopilot. To be clear, the modern version is still fairly old school, which I like!

WIth the way Inibuilds have left the P-40 and Bf108 to rot (both of which i bought), I’ll be giving this one a miss.

Don’t buy it. At least not in this stage. I Can’t turn on the avionics in the modern panel. And after starting to taxi in the retro panel with modern avionics, the aircraft suddenly turned itself off and even after cycling the master switch the avionics wouldn’t boot. 20 Euros spend for this. This actually makes me mad. Because I really wanted to like this thing. Sounds are good, texture modeling is okay and it’s fast af. But at least for me, it is not usable without any of the avionics working.

I don’t use the switches on my honeycomb bravo. They are all not bound to anything to avoid conflicts. There is no other binding to the avionics.
