Install 2024 on top of 2020 - or remove the latter before installing 2024?

In terms of long term functionality of MSFS 20024, would it be best to install it with 2020 still installed - or should 2020 be deleted before installing 2024?
Thanks.

It’s your preference. They are fully separate sims that do not share any core files, and because content is streamed to 2024, it doesn’t take up nearly as much space. I’d say stick to 2020 if you plan to still use it (lots of gremlins to work out in 2024, so if you’re at all worried about that, it doesn’t hurt to keep 2020 installed as a backup option.

By default FS2024 installs to and uses different directories. Installing both is easy and means you remain able to fly if either is not accessible.

I’m very glad to have kept both, as although I’ve spent more time with 2024 running since 19Nov, I’ve spent more time actually flying in 2020. A lot of time in 2024 has been spent messing around with configuring controls, trying to re-learn everything that has changed and investigating new bugs.

Sorry for writing here. I can’t find how to start a post. I’m having problems with the configuration of the primary flight controls. In FS2024. The moving flight control surfaces. Ailerons and rudders and elevators. These don’t return to the neutral position when I release the joystick. I use Metal strike 3d. Maybe I need to check some item in the configuration of them. If there is any post that talks about this subject, I would appreciate it if you could cite it. I don’t think I found one.

Thanks to all for your sober input. MUCH appreciated! I definitely will keep FS 2020 on board for the forseeable future. Thank YOU!
