Hello,
Today I wanted to install Flight Simulator via Xbox Game Pass. On my C partition I have no more 127 GB free. Now I wanted to install the game on an external USB SSD. However, I failed with that. The store only offers me the option to install the game on the C partition, although I have specified in the Windows settings that new apps should be installed on the D partition.
Maybe one of you know a solution.
Thank you!
I think you can only install the Launcher from the store into the C:\ Partition. But once you have the launcher installed. Run the Sim once, and it’ll ask you for the location of the directory where you want to install the bulk of the sim’s files. Then I think you can install to the D:\ Partition in there.
This is just my theory though, I’m on Steam version. And it should behave the exact same way, since they basically use the same Launcher, albeit into a different installation path.

FS2020 must install on the C:\ or the (boot drive).
You should go to Settings, Apps
Scroll down to the MS Flight Simulator App
Click “Move”
Move it to D:\ (If it will install on a external USB, I don’t know)
If you want to install, Click the “Uninstall” icon beside “Move”.
Then go to install again.
Note: Fs2020 must install the initial 1.06 Gb on the C:\ (boot) drive.
You cannot change that.
It will then ask you where you want to install FS2020.
Tell it the D: drive.
It will install the remaining 170 GB.
