Hope this is the right section. I have been flying with the 2020 version about a week now without much issue. Last night, I decided to fly a little before retiring for the evening. When I started the game, the Installation manager came up with a 27GiB update package. Is there no way to delay an update until another login? My download speed is 25mbits/s, so 27GiB takes a couple of hours which I certainly didn’t want to spend last night. It is updating now.
Thanks!
Other than cancelling out, there’s no way to defer updates. They are Mandatory.
I also do not understand why they do not apply those scenery updates on their cloud so it can load into the FS2020 temporarily as you need it. 27GB is a lot for an area I don’t visit very often. I mean this was the idea of the scenery cloud to so you don’t need to install the world on your hard drive.
What they are doing now, is “patching” the scenery cloud (scenery on their server) with software stored on your local machine :(.
Just a thought.
Well you don’t have to download the actual UK update until (or if) you ever want it. The initial download are the fixes/updates to the core sim and specific aircraft, etc. But once the initial download finishes, you can still choose whether to download the files associated with the world scenery/building/POI updates.

Personally I am very happy the way things are organized now. Of course I use www.flightsim.to to add many airports and in pure glee I have up to 60Gb of addons in my community folder. I organize them so that all airports start with the ICAO code which is country specific - easy to find. I have a 1TB SSD and apart from Windwos 10 Pro its reserved for my FS2020 build. I recently deleted the manual cache its now stock 8Gb and with my addons im using a total of 276Gb with all installed, hey so thats not bad is it ?
Last night
today
I sure do like having days of my time wasted just trying to update one game. Thanks MS for wasting so much of my time, over and over again.
