Installing DvD version without DvD

Hello together, im owner of the DvD versrion of MSFS. I upgraded my System now , but no longer DvD on it. So how can i install the MSFS? If i go to Ms Store it tells me install and then comes an error. Does anyone have an idea. Thx a lot

An external USB DVDRW Drive. I have the HP one for all my HP/Omen computers. Then you place the start up on a USB drive.

Really… that´s not good. i bought for much money and it´s not posssible to install over internet??? That can’t be a solution.

Simple solution: In order to speed up the installation many times over, simply create with the program clonedvd (10 ?) images and let all img install alone with clonedvd, you can go for coffee until its finished. After hopefully succesfull installation simply double-click the first img to mount it and start the flusi. You will never need anymore an externel drive for flusi.

Thx for your info i will make like this, but Microsoft should rethink its installation policy thoroughly.Like he you bought this game so there will be no problem to download it from the server…

That has its reason why ms also offers a dvd. Here in Germany, not much emphasis is placed on high internet performance (you can just check it over the network coverage.). There has even been thought about volume reduction. We are not as modern as foreign thinking here in Europe for a long time. Thus, it is a torture for most users to load such large amounts of data via internet connection. So thumbs up for ms and multiple possibilities. A big like from here. JoeAir

Sure it’s always been this way with games and not Microsoft specific. Otherwise people would buy the dvd, install the game then possibly sell the game on or return the disc version, then that person has got the sim for free.

For future reference. It appears like if you installed the game by DVD, and in doing so tied it to your MS account in the Store, you can afterwards simply install the game from the Store on another machine. You will need the (first I think) DVD present in the system to play it though. You can image the DVD and use a tool like Daemon tools to mount it virtually. You can even remove some of the bigger contents of the image by trial and error if you know what you are doing and it will still recognize it.

Hi! I’m also interested in this. I’m building a new PC, no DVD drive, but I have MSFS DVD version. You mean I can create an image for every DVD (10), then load them in my new PC and install MSFS from those images? Will my PC identify them as genuine DVDs (I mean, about DVD protection system)?

Hi! Are you sure? I mean, I read that those (like me) who own the DVD version can´t install MSFS by Microsoft Store downloading.
I’m building a new PC, no DVD drive, and I’m looking for the best way to install DVD version MSFS.

Hi the easiest thing to do, as long as your new case allows it, is to add a internal sata DVD writer/reader (cost about £15) or if that is not possible than buy a external USB DVD drive.
Trying to bypass software protection is not a good thing as MS DVD’s may have DRM/copy protection on them.

Hello, sorry for the late reply, but most of the time I’m on x-plane. Yes you can, thats it. For this purpose i use clone dvd- works for sure with other ones too. create an image of each dvd, before starting msfs double click on the first dvd which is now mounted and msfs can be started. I’m not sure if you have to check a box innside clone dvd, but it’s very easy and quick to find. when installing, each dvd (image) will be installed one after the other, without changing the dvd each time.
