Installing ReShade on MS Store version of the MSFS2020 via "ReshadeForUWP" program by MilkyDeveloper

this worked like a charm, interesting

I just discovered that (I believe) Reshade doesn’t like DX12.
I had the same thing happen: Everything was fine on DX11. I changed to DX12. Reshade injector starts, MSFS starts, then crashes after a few seconds.
I launched MSFS without Reshade, switched back to DX11, shut down the sim, then restarted it with the batch file. Worked fine.

After restarting, all my msfs files were removed except the folders and the community files… How could this happen?

Thanks for this!! :star_struck:

I uninstalled MilkyDeveloper’s UWP version and installed Reshade v5.8.0 from reshade.me.

Worked like a charm. All I have to do is launch MSFS and the shader controls open with the Home key.

The trick is indeed to point the Reshade installer to gamelaunchhelper.exe.

On my system it’s in D:\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.33.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\

Seems to work fine now on MS Store Version too even on DX12 if you use the gamelaunchhelper.exe.

Atlleast as long as you don´t minimize your FS Window…

Must say i use the MSFS in Windowed Mode for various reasons and everytime i minimize the game and pull it back up with Reshade running the sim crashed with a window that says my Graphiccard driver crashed do to overheating and so on…

I have a ZOTAC GAMING GEFORCE RTX 4070 AMP AIRO, this thing even in full load barely hits 60 degreese in other games, let alone MSFS where she only gets used for like 50% thanks to 60fps cap with frame generation and so runs for the most part at under 100 Watts and 45-50 degreese.

So heat could not been an issue^^

Funny thing is i never had this problem before using Reshade with the former “tricky .bat” way.

So seems i will likely use the .bat version again since i don´t want to let go of the Windowed mode.

For the benefit of anyone who couldn’t figure out how to find the gamelaunchhelper.exe file with their MS Store install, like me, because their XboxGames folder was empty here is what I had to do.

  1. Open the Xbox app.
  2. Click into the MSFS game.
  3. Next to the Play button click the 3 dots and click the Manage button.
  4. See the message that says this game supports advanced management features and a button to Move the game to the default Xbox App location (C:\XboxGames), click Move.
Once this was done, MSFS was now showing in the XboxGames folder along with the gamelaunchhelper.exe file within the Content subfolder. You can now link this file when doing standard ReShade install.

Hi all so im having an issue, i have reshade installed for store version but how do i uninstall it? Causing me issues and i want it gone but dont know how to get rid, any help appreciated.

From what I remember don’t you just re-run the installer and select uninstall. Failing that you could just delete the files that were inserted into the main flight simulator folder where the exe is located.
