Insurance, like in real life, is a complete scam

EDIT:

Apparently, this is not a bug, but a UI failure.
Insurance will pay their percentage of any repair costs when you pay for the repair, until you reach a limit, at which point, the repair will just cost full price.

Still: There appears to be no on-screen information regarding this, and the process is very misleading and confusing.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Insurance doesn’t actually pay anything out. Not only that, but the price of repair is nothing like what it said it would be.

Thanks to the AWFUL scenery on small airports, my first company-owned plane was destroyed because it’s impossible to land/taxi with the broken scenery.

I did the checkup, and it said the cost to repair would be $47,000 and my refund would be $21,000.

Well that would be fine, if that were true, but then I go to repair the plane and the cost is over $150,000 and my refund was a big fat whopping $0.

Why even have a career mode if you are going to screw people this hard? Now I have to delete my career mode and start over.

see, mine said it would pay out, but didn’t. Very realistic.

This is a level of realism I was not prepared for.

Good to know, glad I always only take the cheapest insurance and hope to never crash or damage a plane.

I had the same thing, but now if I crash the sim doesn’t even charge me anymore or give the aircraft damage. It seems all of my aircraft have an invincibility shield at the moment. Hopefully it’s a bug and not some measure put in by the devs to stop bad pilots from being bankrupted :stuck_out_tongue:

Selling MOD as MSFS2024 is truly a talent

Having used insurance IRL, I can affirm that at least IRL it’s not a scam.

A little bit of context, I crashed the plane because I am dumb, nonetheless, since I started a second company and ‘hired’ crew I decided to pay the most expensive insurance (I thought that employees could crash the plane). Insurance pays 0%. I would be ok with the 80% that I paid for. but no, 0% is what I got.

This is lovely, we need fixed ASAP, literally affecting my experience and considering pausing until they fix it, same happened with Cyberpunk and I never decide to resume playing.

:astonished:Are you serious, they really crash planes?

I swear officer, that tree just jumped out in front of me

Thanks I am heading to the airfield to take them away the keys

I hope they wont do that with selling credits. I noted working as an employee does produce ridicilous low incoming. The only way to make money is working with your own plane without producing damage.

I had a career mission where the PG trees placed one right on the numbers of the approach end of the runway I had to land on.

I feel you man, and I just realized everytime that insurance bug happens or crew flies my plane my Cr count goes to 0. Am I the only one?

I too just experienced this issue, unfortunately. The worst part is, my crash was the fault of the ridiculous amount of wind and turbulence the game magically creates when I am landing (not realistic at all). Anyway, paid for premium insurance and got scammed very hard. Please fix this asap because there are so many bugs in this game the insurance working is pretty critical to guard players against events out of their hands.

insurance needs balancing imo

Same happened to me, crashed plane, insurance paid nothing repair bill is 326,000 credits.

That one hell of lot of grinding to get another plane.

Cheaper to set up a new company

Uggh. WTF!

Finally got up to my first $1M…then a turbulent wind gusts at 5000ft (with sim rate) caused a split second stall and crash into mountains for the C172…

Great (I thought) - at least my premium insurance will pay out 80%…instead I got sent back to the hangar…different painted C172 (weird…but ok) - but then unexpected error appearing each mission.

Restarted SIM then noticed a RED EXCLAMATION over my cargo plane company…went in and it looked like your screenshot, so did the maintenance (~408K) thinking I would get the insurance $$$ back…nope.

Nothing…zip…nada!

WTF happened there? Insurance paid nothing and now I’m over $400K in the red??

Not Happy Jan… :frowning:

Insurance seems to cover only one broken item.
