My mainboard Gigabyte Aorus Ultra z390 just died, today.
I could replace it with another Z390 or get another one with Z490 ( CPU upgrade, as well)
Right now I have the I7 9700K@5 GHz OC
I do play mostly, flight simulators, and all the titles I play, are CPU “hungry”
Would it help if I upgrade to I9 10900K with Turbo 5,3 GHz or maybe some OC to 5,4?
Does the Z490 have some significant advantages over the Z390?
My GPU is RTX 3090 ( 4k is the resolution )
Did any here upgraded from I7 9700K to I9 10900k?
Any advices are welcome, guys.
Thank you
If you’re planning on replacing the system, then have a really good look at the new AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU’s. They’re as fast (if not faster) than intel with the IPC increase. You also don’t need to spend for a ‘K’ version and expensive motherboards to overclock.
To be honest though, I would just get a replacement motherboard and run what you’ve currently got. The upgrade will likely be marginal.
Put the cash you’ve saved away for the true next generation.
If i were you i will not change nothing, just buy a New motherboard,of course if you want it. You have good hardware and the sim fs2020 needs fix many things.
I have :
z390 aorus master
I9 9900ks
G.skill 3600 ddr4 Ram
Aorus 1660ti
Water Cooler system 240
Windows10 pro Workstation
My PC now has 1and 1/2 year and running at 4k in the sim.

Or invest your saved money in upgrading your RAM to 64gb…
nah, 64 is complete overkill for MSFS
