In MSFS2020 some of the hand crafted airports had some fantastically detailed hangers that you could park your aircraft in. Some also had hanger doors that opened when you got close to them. The best example is Lake Tekapo Airport (NZTL).
On MSFS 2024 this is no longer possible. So my wish is that all hand crafted hangers are accessible to aircraft.
Many thank.

Plane Without a hangar, like a bird that has no nest.
Its ture that MSFS 2024 is cloud based, & most of the flying time is in the skies, and hangar is ground based, but its one of msfs 2024 errors and mistakes to cancel every hangar existed. hope that can be corrected in the future. even if it came back with another release of the sim, like lets say msfs 2028, that means each release destroyes something that the another one had, rather than completing and polishing it, which is a bad strategy.
Thank you for that tip. I don’t think I’ve visited this airport before. I’m pleased to confirm that open hangars still work in the current FS2020 SU16 beta. This is “GATE (PARKING 2 – RAMP GA SMALL)” at NZTL, although it’s a bit too snug for my twin engine.
But back to the point of the post, are you saying that if you install World Update 12 with this airport in FS2024, that you can no longer get inside the hangar? Or is this world update not available in FS2024?
And I was today years old when I discovered that NZTL from WU12 has hangars that open as you approach! Thank you, @hairstreak62
Hi, glad you you liked it. Yes, I’m afraid you can’t park your plane in the default handcrafted MSFS2024 airports, which is a shame. Plenty of othe pay ware airfields have accessible hangers; Beale is excellent.
I’m working through all the handcrafted airfields in 2020/2024 to see if there are other accessible hangers; nothing quite matches Lake Tekapo where the designers really did go to town!
It’s cool isn’t it? The payware Beale scenery in 2020 has a hanger that you can park in and then the doors open when you startup!
Unfortunately I’ve just discovered that starting a flight based at my new favourite airport of NZTL now causes an almost immediate CTD in the production release of SU16.
This is likely related to a new 2.4GB update to “World Update XII: New Zealand” package, which has only become avaliable after the beta closed. If you totally remove WU12, the CTD doesn’t happen (but you also lose all the handcrafted airports and POIs). If anybody with FS2020 has received the SU16 update and already has WU12 installed but has NOT yet installed the 2.4gb update shown below, I’d be curious to see if you can still successfully start a flight at NZTL.
SU16 with all WU up to date, no issues at NZTL. Did a couple of flights, cold & dark as well as starting on the runway. Take-off and returned to land and shut-down. Certainly no CTDs.
I also haven’t encountered any problems further north. Quick hop from NZNS to NZMK and back (nice water masks in the bay!) and no issues.
@gue63, thank you. That’s good to know. Not sure why I’m getting CTDs here, in that case. I’ll have to play around with a few settings to see what’s happening.
