i am connected wired to speed internet when i launch fs2020, i am unable to browse the web since it will take 10 minutes to open anything on google
my speed test drops to 16 or 49 from 196
if game not running, speed is at 216 wired
wifi, is the same thing as well
contacted cox, told me it’s a software game issue?

ofcourse they will always say that, easy way out.
but with msfs running, better not startup your browser, it probably is gonna lag.
you also do not mention any hardware specs, ram, etc.
i have pretty low net 75Mbit but never ever an issue with all live stuff on except mp.
i do have low ping tho, around 20 - 30.

what does it do ? , it will stop windows from checking for updates every 5 - 10 seconds , interrupting downloads / loading game data. ( it will still check for updates but only when your not using your networkcard )

it won’t be a magic solution for downloading game data faster.. for that you have to ask Asobo to fix it..

my ritual is start MSFS , then go make a cup of coffee and a sandwich..

P.S. running a speedtest only gives ‘normal’ results when your computer is at idle doing nothing

I often open my browser and email client while I’m waiting for the sim to load, and I’ve never experienced such an issue. You might want to check your settings…

By any chance did you install the Google Map Mod? It changes your hosts file, which can affect your network performance, and doesn’t automatically undo itself when removed.

Is someone streaming on an other computer or TV or smartphone in the same network segment?

I am using Lenovo laptop
I have been able to play game on low end or high setting before
I turned all to low end but keeps crashing

no google map mod install, no other computer connected or TV
smartphone is not connected to internet either
i don’t even have add on or community folder to affect performance
you can’t browse the internet while game is open and the speed drops to 16-40 which can’t let you open links and takes forever to do so

Since you also posted about the CTD issue, I think you are overstressing your laptop. The specs are really at the bottom end or below for what is needed.

You also posted this thread - and made a comment that you need to select Live Players in order to change Time/Weather..

I wonder if you’re still in a Multiplayer session and that’s what’s causing your network bandwidth to get consumed so badly. If so, you may need to leave the MP Session? I don’t play MP, so I can’t give any advice there.

That’s actually a pretty neat trick. Interested to hear feedback from any FS2020 simmers that have used this.
