My wifi modem keeps losing reception and msfs just shuts down and goes back to the xbox home page.

Hi, this sounds like a localised issue in your home. I’m assuming your on PC? If so, check for any pending Windows updates and see if that helps.

In that case you should probably look into whether there’s any acknowledged issues with your ISP and location.

Do you have anything connected directly (wired) to the router, and have you checked whether that’s working any more consistently?

Hi, i’m playing it on xbox, might be time to upgrade my wifi modem.

Nothing connected directly, all wireless connection. I’ve turned off other device so it’s just the xbox connected and the wheather here is good, never really had this problem before, well not as this bad.

You say you turn off the other devices. Keep them on and check whether they lose connection as well.

If so, then it’s either your ISP is having outages, or your router.
Try powering the router off, wait 60 seconds, and power it on again.

If not, then I would would suspect the Xbox WiFi.

If the problem persists with all your WiFi-connected devices, and your ISP says “No Outages” then yeah, you might need a new router.

ETA: You mention weather. Do you have a dish? Maybe recent solar activity is disrupting the satellite signal.

can you run an ethernet to the isp modem, even temporarily? This would give you an idea if something is interfering with the wifi, or theres a problem with the isp.

It could still be a problem with the WiFi chip on the Xbox.

I cannot do a free flight, get into the sim ok, select airport etc, then it goes to the birds eye view of the airport and the spinning wheel just keeps going, obviously a server issue, checked everything my end

Msfs2020 fires up fine can do a flight in that

Very strange

It’s not just you. I currently have that same issue in 2020. Everything is fine, but once the FS2020 is launched, the tray says no internet connection and the system drops its IP address. Once FS is terminated, all is well again.

I almost want to say it’s an issue between Win11 24H2 and MSFS.
