IPD adjustment in Pimax Crystal Light

The Pimax Crystal Light doesn’t have automatic IPD adjust like the Crystal does. Is there a recommended procedure that will help me determine which IPD setting is correct? I turn the thumbwheel in any direction, and I don’t really see much of a difference sitting in the cockpit I am in. Is there some eye chart or something where we can adjust to get the correct setting?

You have to use a ruler.

You can use either a ruler or download apps on your phone. There are several apps available to measure IPD.

Or get the prescription from an eye exam. After my last exam they didn’t want to give it to me. I understood their reasoning. They wanted me to buy glasses from them, not some cheap online place. I reminded them that if I had to force the issue with a written request I’d be finding a new optometrist.

Lucky you got yours, no sign of it here. Your optometrist should advise you. Saing that if you set the adjustment even if you out one or two millimetres out should not be a problem.

We have many members here who are not in the USA, so I don’t want to assume anything. Here in the States we have a federal law that requires the optometrist to give you your prescription at no extra charge.

All I had to do to get mine was remind them of that fact. They certainly didn’t want the Federal Trade Commission knocking on their door.

Just out of curiosity, I tried 2 different IPD phone apps and they were within +/- 0.5mm my optometrist’s measurement. So if you don’t have an exact value, they should give you one that’s close enough.

I used EyeMeasure (iOS), and the result is the same as my optometrist’s measurement. For instance, my IPD is 63.5mm, but I set the IPD to 64.1mm because it gives the best clarity. This adjustment could also be influenced by how I position the headset while wearing it.

@CalvinPimax I agree mate. I’ve found it best to go into the SteamVR Void and temporarily show your boundary grids. Then use this to help fine tune your headset’s IPD. Depending on the headset, I’ve found that this can vary +/- 1-2mm compared to actual optometrist measured IPD.

Personally, I will go to the ROV Test room and focus on those numbers.

You just need to find out what works best for you I guess.

I wish I have a headset to adjust the IPD…I pre-orderd months ago and paid in full some time ago…no sign yet of the headset. I even ordered lens inserts in advance to be ready for it !

Could you please PM me the order number? I’ll check with the team, review your order status, and potentially provide an estimated delivery time.

I agree with that; as long as the headset is functioning properly.

I never understood the IPD fuzz. On my G2 it’s a slider. If you pick up the G2, you might accidently touch the slider and your IPD is ‘off’. I then just move the slider from until I notice no ‘overlapping’ of the image. Perhaps for other people it’s a very sensitve thing, for me personally it does’t change that much as far as image quality is concerned…
