I have not upgraded yet from 2020 to 2024. I use Live Traffic alot but it is not very comprehensive in 2020, ie only includes a small percentage of the real traffic. Is it any better in 2024? Cheers.
In FS2024 you still have a lot of blank and generic liveries, planes take off in all directions regardless of the runway in use then they don’t climb, appear and disappear on the ground, do not produce contrails… AI traffic is a total mess.
FS2020 + FSLTL is much better. Unfortunately the FSLTL injector is not entirely compatible with FS2024, so the ATC request planes to climb to 60,000 feet and above.
Fsltl doesn’t work perfect but it works way better than stock in my opinion

Yes, I mean… planes queue on the taxiways and it’s nice looking at them taking off and climbing (even though they climb much less than in real life if you pay attention).
Unfortunately for some reason when FSLTL is running, the ATC gets crazy and tries to send some of the injected planes into orbit
Yeah, I was using FSTL in 2020. The amount of traffic was great. But you do not get aircraft labels, so it becomes hard to follow flights.
Disappointed to hear your comments on 2024 re live traffic.

2024 Live traffic is a bit better than 2020, e.g. 3rd party models from AIG / FSTL are now being matched and so thats an improvement.
But if you hang around an airport for about 15 mins, you will see the wheels start to fall off…

Several AI traffic landing on the same runway at the same time

Some traffic becomes stuck holding at the Runway (these 2 have been stuck here for over 20mins)

And so other AI traffic will start stacking up into each other behind the above stuck AI
They do seem to be culled after 30mins or so…
But those that remain aren’t going anywahere -
At least 1 aircraft doing ‘circles’ at very low altitude indefintely over the airport (the runway was clear)
Other behaviours I have seen in 2024 (without screenshots, sorry)
- Some traffic will start taking off and/or landing on other runways that aren’t in use at that time
- Some traffic will land and takeoff on the same runway at the same time
- Some traffic doesn’t show at all (happens quite alot)
- Some traffic begin ‘spinning’ or ‘cart-wheeling’ while on the ground (this might be fixed in latest SU3 as I haven’t seen it for last few hours using it)

So it ‘kinda’ works but not great difference ‘buggy-data streams-and-or-buggy-AI-algorithms’ wise from 2020. Like so many things in the game, unfortunately, it’s half-complete code passed off as a feature.
The Nerve
SU3 Beta includes big improvements to live traffic in 2024. A library of 130 new, quite realistic models and liveries. I’ve checked a lot of a/c against FlightAware and found a/c type, flight number, registration, location and even gate often match. Where liveries are available (licensed) they are usually right as well.
It’s not perfect and the AI still do some very strange things. I’ve only seen about a dozen real world liveries so far, many more are needed but personally I think it’s way better than default 2020 live traffic.
