Is a 55” OLED TV too big?

That’s very helpful to know.

Do you use your 55” oled for productivity or anything else apart from Flight Simulator?

I’m thinking that 55” would be too big on a desk sitting that close. This is why I’m thinking 42” or 43” would be better.

It’s actually a Qled but yes, it’s basically my daily driver for multiple PC’s I switch between and a phone I can connect (Samsung DEX mode) to the TV.

I have my TV mounted to a wall next to my desk via an articulating arm. I also have a small table that has my Turtle Beach Velocity 1 and X56 flightstick mounted to that I can slide up and plug into the front mounted usb ports on my sim PC.

When I’m not simming, I slide that little table to the side and my keyboard & mouse are right up there on the desk in front of the TV. That’s were I sit for other gaming and productivity activities.

With your settings above flying the Asobo G36 Bonanza with my 120Hz Qled TV I averaged 40-45 fps sitting on the runway at KJFK and 45-50 fps over Manhattan (click on my gamer pic for my PC specs).

Note: not sure what plane you were using, I had traffic and weather turned off, and I have an overclock on my 7900xtx. Perhaps some other settings were different…

I then turned on AFMF (frame gen) so my fps effectively doubled. The specs of my Qled TV are:

So with a freesync range of 48-120Hz that my TV works within, the 40-50 fps range I was initially hitting there was essentially no VRR occurring. So if you are flying at less than 50fps all the time then freesync/G-sync/VRR will not help you.

After turning on AFMF I was hitting about 80-100 fps. In this scenario, freesync (VRR) kicked in and gave me a smoother flight, especially when I dove down closer to the ground or was around KJFK airport and my fps would vary considerably.

Btw - I couldn’t tell much difference between Tlod=6/Olod=9 with HDR=off and stock (ultra) Tlod=2/Olod=2 and HDR=on. The stock ultra Tlod/Olod settings understandably were much easier on my system while turning on HDR had a minimal impact (and would get me easily above 80fps w/o AFMF and allow VRR to smooth out my fight).

From my previous configurations:
9900K > 13600K > 14700K
1660TI > A770 > RX 7900 XTX

O LoD has no effect on FPS
T LoD will pull FPS down drastically

Set the T LOD=6 in UserCfg.opt and then set it for “Read Only”
to besure that FS2020 does not change it.

I run “Native” resolution only.
TAA & AMD Software = Quality
T Lod=6, O LoD=9

Here, I am sitting on the runway at KJFK in the Longitude.

55 club checking in. Everything is life size…

Hisense U7 eventually will switch to OLED. Articulated so can roll up the race rig or put everything away in under 5 minutes. Started with the XBSX which is also still hooked up. Hence the TB commitment. Being the height is slightly lower than optimal for the standard desk(race rig came first) by about 1", got a simple IKEA top with adjustable legs. TV is 1/2" above the desk.

The TV was almost 2" too high in that pic.
