I haven’t heard anything about renting aircraft from the marketplace in quite some time. It seems like a good idea in theory especially when aircraft like the A350 at $80+ with no refunds. I recall Asobo mentioning in press material before launch that we would be able to rent aircraft to try before we buy. I hope that’s still in the works
I’ve been wondering this as well, since the “rented” filter is still present I am hopeful it’ll still happen. There are many addons I would probably buy if I just had a chance to try them. If I have any doubts, I don’t buy, and rent/trial would help with that. I think the only dev who has something to lose from this system is one with consistent <2/5 star ratings… won’t be surprised if they opt out. Decent quality addons would probably see more sales, however.
Indeed, we would love to experiment with this option. You are right in saying that it would be good to have an option to fly an expensive and complex aircraft before spending serious money.

It would also be great to see if your system can handle the detailed aircraft. I would hate to buy something like the Fenix A321 or the Ini A350 just to find out I have to crank the settings down just to get 20FPS
And there are some addons I’d probably not buy if I had a chance to try them.
One way or the other, rental is a good thing.
The law in Sweden makes it so it is possible to buy, try and get a refund if not happy within 14 days. So I have been saved a couple of times now from ■■■■■■ helis after having bought them, and you know basically instantly when its ■■■■, so my refunds have been very fast.
But having this rentalsystem (depending on the price if course) is much better! So I really hope it comes!
See the Developer Livestream thread from yesterday, brief mention about renting…
Also seen in the recent SU3 beta that a few of the Microsoft products had the option to rent in the marketplace
From what devs were these bad heli’s? Just asking because I want to avoid bad purchases.
I wanted to rent an airport but honestly the price difference between renting and owning should be bigger, not much sense if they ask for $6 to rent an airport for a day or two but $15 to own it forever. I would rent more for things I know I would use only once.
Hopefully there will be a (long overdue) Dev Q&A soon so this can be asked.
Yea I’ve run into this a few times when wanting to rent an aircraft. That the rental price is not financially worth it to me to try. There may be little to no YouTube coverage, and I’ll just end up not renting and not buying the product so it really doesn’t help sales from me
agreed. IMO a rental should cost no more than renting a movie on a streamer, say $3 for 24 hours
