Is Blackshark AI still updating their part in MSFS?

Anyone has any info regarding Blackshark AI ? Is their part was just one time implementation on release or they keep on updating the data/algorithm ? I am pretty much still the same thing since release (for the good and the bad). Yet i see their logo intro on each sim launch

I cant seem to find any info on that.

The only improvement I’ve seen is better taxing behavior. They have improved it a long way since launch. From the AI just banging on the runway upon landing to now making smooth landings.

That’s a good question, indeed there seems to be no change/progress since launch. One obvious thing would be boats, marinas, trains which are very obvious in satellite imagery but ignored by the AI.
Would be worth to know what’s going on there.

Blackshark AI is used for building generation on top of the satellite scenery.

That’s a good question indeed. Maybe at least BlackSharkAI algorythm is run on new satellite imaginery for any new World Update (if applied) ?

I dont think this related to Blackshark AI

I mean i would expect some sort of better interpolation of buildings, towers etc

So far the same building placed by mistake where there would be a TV tower is still the same building since release. Even on places there has been a world update (Germany)

No idea if BS are still involved but I’m pretty sure Microsoft has a large chunk of their own AI programmers to be called upon when requested. In many ways this should be better.

So you pretty much saying Blackshark made their one time appearance on MSFS and made their ‘exit’ ?

They are now laying on a beach at the Caribbean thanks to that.

Every time the world data changes (new DEM, new buildings, world updates, city updates) Blackshark has to re-render the world (or at least parts of it) to have it in a game ready state on the servers to be streamed.

So yes, I would say so.

Sorry, I didn’t realise I wrote this in unreadable code

Yeah, we should probably distinguish between re-rendering based on DEM or world update adjustments and an improvement in the autogen overall. The latter appears to have minimal change, though that might be more on Blackshark AI’s timeline depending on what their plans are.

Yhh i was joking mostly, but, i am well aware that the same API still works the same and obviously Blackshark and Asobo need to keep it alive. I was more referring to actual updates, new data, fixing etc

Exactly, it’s about improving the algorithm itself.
In the BS website, they are showing “Object and change detection” as one of the features of their technology, and they are showing a satellite picture where boats in a marina have been identified. That’s something that’s missing from the sim, so hopefully, if they are still involved, we’ll see improvements at some point.

That’s great. I would really love to see better interpolation of houses rooftops style. It tends to put the conventional tiles rooftops in areas which its rarely exist in the country/region.

I am not sure this topic really belongs in “Community Support” domain as there is no support needed just a discussion

New procedural buildings haven’t been added since WUV

Oh. My bad. Sorry

The Nevada bush trip was littered with clouds burned into the ground textures all over the place. At one point, those clouds disappeared. So yes, they still are modifying the algorithm, and yes, they still do pre-processing of the data that is eventually streamed to you.

Great but this is not Blackshark ai part. This is the image coming from Bing.

Very good point about the boats in the marinas. This needs to be expanded to ALL boats, docks and shorelines worldwide.

There are a number of topics on the above subjects (water coming up the shoreline, sunken boats and docks on rivers) for cities like London and on and on. Third party developers have fixed some of these but millions (maybe billions) of miles of less traveled shoreline areas will never get third party attention. I know because I fly in the Pacific Northwest and visit favorite fishing lakes using the amphibian or float planes in the simulator. The docks, marinas and boats are there and visible from 500 ft. But, land and try to pull up to them, you find they are underwater. You can touch them but they are underwater because the water near shore rides up the shore.

Glad you brought this up. Hope it gets some attention soon. A ticket has been submitted to Zendesk.
