Is FSHud worth it now for a casual?

So obviously a big one is that Beyond ATC is releasing this year. I don’t know if it will be weeks or months, but I feel it might be closer to months than weeks. That said, I don’t really mind bad voices. I just want ATC telling me some stuff like they do IRL so I don’t have to set my alt to FL370 on the ground because it doesn’t matter anyway. Or some vectors. You know, normal stuff. I do use FSLTL, so the integration of FSHud seems interesting.

How is it now in 2024?

I’ve been using FsHud since it came out, and it’s pretty good. Nonetheless, BATC is a “day one” purchase for me. If you want a decent ATC that also controls traffic, I don’t think anything out there is better than FsHud.

I’m an FSHud user, and I’m happy with it, particularly the beta version. BATC looks good, and I will certainly be interested in the reviews when it’s released, but whether or not I purchase it will depend to a certain extent on how FSHud is developing in the meantime. Competition can only be a good thing.

I’m not sure if FSHud is still being developed, considering that the last update was on December 21, 2023.

I’ve been using FSHud beta for about a year and it seems to be updated on a fairly regular basis.
It’s not perfect by any means as there’s no voice recognition although they say it’s on the way.
Vectoring isn’t particularly well implemented either.
Yes roll on BATC but whilst we all wait “patiently” FSHud is in my opinion the better option.

Make sure you’re using the beta version. To be honest I’m not sure why there is a separate beta version as each update appears to be stable, but the developers must have their reasons.

Hello,

There are planned things for next update:

  1. Airborne separation (vectors, speed control, direct to shortages).
  2. Proper runway change handling by avoiding situation of opposite landing/takeoff.
  3. Reduce amount of heading vectors on approach-transition step with option to ask direction vectors any time.
  4. More reliable ground handling that avoids long queues and non-proper behavior.

It takes some time, but I believe in few weeks there would be something…

Thank you

Im also FS Hud user. This developer is very solid and they regulary Update software witch new options and bug fixes. Also they listen comunity so they than very good job with some problems like encrypted scenery from Makretplace. FS Hud use navdata api and its read all Airports from marketplace.

FSHUD looks promising. Would I be able to enter a flight plan without having to enter it into the FMC on my PMDG B737 using MSFS?

My problem, not FSHUD. Works fine.

(edit) I’m very satisfied with the program, and the developer has been very responsive to comments on the forum, and now on their Discord channel.

@DemurerCap82916 I see you’re now happy with FSHud - have fun.

Just purchased this yesterday. Been using BeyondATC and definitely find this to be better. Fewer quirks and really like how it controls the AI traffic. The 2.0 version is coming out in a month or so and adds an airport map like BeyondATC which looks very good. Personally, I don’t use the voice recognition but that is also part of 2.0. If you purchase now, 2.0 is a free upgrade.

Well done.

Very happy with FSHud 2.0 alpha version. I always liked their ATC software. Now they have taken it to the next level, even in VR, and together with FSTL the Immersion is perfect, AI traffic handeled very well, voice recognition works very good, vocabulary needs to be increased but I am sure this is only a matter of time. Well done FSHUD.

Hi everyone, I’m tempted to switch to this ATC software, since the others I’ve been using so far do not fully satisfy me. Given that I use AIG AI models, I would like to know if:

  • does FSHUD use the same schedules as AIG, so that I will find the same aircraft injected I would find if I used AIG’s own injector?
  • does FSHUD manage ground traffic avoiding crashes between the user airplane and AI airplanes while taxiing and taking off/landing?
  • does FSHUD manages traffic as AIG’s own injector does, without stuck traffic, without misaligned parked aircraft, etc?
  • does FSHUD uses airlines parking codes as AIG’s own injector does?

Thanks in advance to those who will help me clarify those points. Thanks

Hey! I’m using FSHud, and I can tell you—it’s an amazing ATC add-on! It can handle AIG, Live Traffic, or even both at the same time, so you can choose whatever you prefer in the settings.

In the latest version, it is fully integrated with MSFS2020, so you can even use it in VR. Plus, it now has voices with regional accents and voice control for added immersion. There’s also a detailed map showing all taxiways, parking spots, and your entire flight route with STARs. And of course, no stuck traffic— It manages all aircraft in the sim perfectly!

Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re looking to enhance your ATC experience!

I’ve been using it for a year, and it has been managing traffic effectively for a long time. They’ve made huge strides forward, so for me, FSHud - Air Traffic Control is most realistic ATC for MSFS2020.

I jumped on board with FSHud and haven’t regretted the purchase in the least. A couple of nitpicks (mainly involving fairly uncommon error circumstances), but that’s it. Works well, easy to use.

The first thing I’d recommend, though, is going into the settings and slowing down the voice speed. When I was first looking at ATC programs a long time ago (I wound up going with P2ATC, which is also a fine program, but I don’t want to upgrade it to the new version as the additional functions aren’t things I need), I avoided FSHud because I found the voices to be a incomprehensible muddle. Easily fixed, it turns out!

Is the new version (with maps, etc) officially out yet? Or is it a beta on the Discord or something? Looking forward to it…

I answered my own question on this one. Switching to the 2.x beta is an option on the website; it downloads the beta installer instead of the regular one.

I have noticed, at least for me, that the 2.x beta is a LOT slower than the current release, across the board - startup, injection, responding to calls… I’m not sure if that’s inherent to the program or just my computer being overtaxed (I do run a number of external programs along with MSFS…)

For me it’s much faster and overall performance is much way better then 1.3. So it’s probably something on your side. Also I’m put ATC on my tablet and speaking to ATC in game by mic, all running smooth!

It turns out it was something on my side. Long story short, the wrong power profile was active and my processor wasn’t running at full speed. Changed that, and everything’s fine now. I still think it’s a little slower than 1.3, but it’s no longer slow.
