Is it me? (ongoing server issues during peak times)

Don’t do it if it’s voodoo for you, in all mentioned 4 cases it solved the issues. So I don’t know what more I personally would need as proof.

In all the probably 50+ cases where I saw the scenery not loading, throwing low bandwidth messages, activating warp fixed it in seconds.
And every of the 4 times restarting router too.

Another option is to try many other things, sure. For me either warp or a good restart is fixing the “no bandwidth usage in 2024”. It’s as 100% as it could be. Always, every time. And looking at our discord it seemed to help others too.
Anyway, it was suggested to me by someone knows what he’s saying, I tried it and it worked. But I still think it only helps because something else wasessed up. In a state directly after router restart I don’t need warp.

Maybe my issue is different from other ones.
But then, if it’s a thing with my router that also means that if the state after reset would last longer, there would be 0 issues with loading.

That’s also not what the ppl with issues want to hear.

So, I don’t know, but unless someone tries it he will never know.

I also don’t know whether sacrificing a goat would fix the issues I’m having with MSFS.
Even if you told me that you sacrificed four goats and it worked every time, I wouldn’t try it.

I’ve tried Warp and I’ve documented the results. The MSFS backend is unreliable for me, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t work, with Warp as well as without. Attributing the current state to something I did just before the state changed seems almost irrational when the only test I have is unreliable. I explained that rebooting the router or the PC or changing network settings could easily lead to being routed to another “Availability Zone”, another data center. And that you had to do it multiple times seems to show that it is only a temporary solution. I demonstrated that my ISP has peering to Microsoft’s network and I can provide sources and evidence for my statement that they don’t peer with Cloudflare.

I’m happy your solutions work for you.

I do still CTD but I get a much better result with the following steps.

  1. start system
  2. cmd as admin - ipconfig /flushDNS
  3. reboot
  4. cmd as admin - ipconfig /flushDNS (without reboot)
  5. start sim

Sounds a bit weired especially that I have to flushDNS two times but with this steps I have a 50:50 chance of having the sim running.
If it runs with the current dns I can close it and restart the sim without CTD

Maybe worth a try.
So far I do only free flights, do not know if this will help with other modes as well.
Simsetup:
vanilla sim + AxisAndOhs + BlackSquare turbine duke + GTN 750 from PMS50 + tobii (manual adjusted XML)

vanilla sim + AxisAndOhs + c 172 Asobo + GTN 750 from PMS50 (not in use but still in the community folder) + tobii (manual adjusted XML)

vanilla sim + AxisAndOhs + H225 + GTN 750 from PMS50 (not in use but still in the community folder) + tobii (manual adjusted XML)

I am totaly aware that this sounds a bit like voodoo. At least it seems to work for me. Did so far 3 times work.

A success rate of 50:50 suggests no causality whatsoever, just simple random chance.

But yeah, I don’t experience any CTDs but two weeks in I still can’t use the sim without a VPN at peak times. At this point I have no hope anymore that it will get better.

For me FS2024 is a subscription service by (literal) proxy now, because I require a paid VPN to use it.

Agree but comming from a 90% CTD ratio even this is already a success and huge step forward.

Maybe I was wrong with my initial account and I had 99.999% to get a CTD.
All servers and services running as expected

If you feel better you can change this to every second attempt was successfull.
It is realy sad to declare this already a success

EDIT:

I got a message today that the marketplace content will now be transfered and I should restart the sim. Ofcourse it did CTD. Since then I am unable to get into it anymore.
All the hacks I did try do not work anymore.

I have now more than 50h of “playtime” according to the xbox app, with about 1h of recorded flight time.

I just give up. I guess I will surrender to MS/Asobo, Telekom or who ever is causing these issues.
Looks like my whole setup is just not capable of running the sim. :sleepy:

Don’t be hard on yourself. It’s not your setup. :person_tipping_hand:

Here is a video of my 100% reproducible issue with this, as mentioned some days ago.

The 10 mins before start oof video:
I start the sim around 10 minutes before the start of this recording. I loaded up the sim, all fine. Worldmap behaves normal, one can zoom etc, no issues. One can choose runway, no issues.
Then i choose and save my livery, boom i get a bandwith warning. Now going to the worldmap brings up what you see in the video, namely:

  • Runways dont load
  • Zoom doesnt work anymore and map doesnt load next ZL

Then you see me activating Warp. Now please KEEP IN MIND that it takes around 1 min for it to fully work and completely reconnect. So ignore the direct time after activating, instead focus on wats happening after this reconnect timespan.

Everything works as expected, the runways pop in the airport selection, zoom works again. The last part of the video the sim works 100% as it should.

This is absolutely, in 100% reproducible on my end. What is also 100% is that it wont go away anymore, unless i activate warp. A simple sim restart is not enough, it will stay like this.
But what helps, always, is to restart my router. Sadly it will never keep working and 1 day later, or same evening even, the same start over again. Rinse repeat since day 1. Never saw that happening in MSFS 2020 and i can use everything else in the internet.

The same would be loading scenery. If i would load into scenery in that state one can see at sim start, it takes 15 minutes. Using Warp it loads into EDDK in 16 seconds.

Im a developer, working in and with the internet the whole day and dont have issues. Its an MSFS 2024 only thing.
And from hobby side, games released, like Stalker with 150 GB download, wit 3 patches, 26GB the last one, ive downloaded so much the last days, and everything works as expected.
Nothing is reconnecting and whatnot. And nothing else needs Warp.
So no clue what to do anymore. I would have a few things to do in msfs, from dev side but this sim is costing me the last nerves.

And here’s my attempt to explain the different things we’re seeing. Since you’re a developer, you might welcome the technical detail in my hypothesis.

Just out of curiosity I hit the install button again. Now the downloadspeed is currently around 2-3Mbit. It might take the full 25h do do the installation. Guess it was not this they have been talking about during the live stream. But it might be what I am getting.

I need to correct myself I am now down to KBit level

it might be faster to fly to seatle and get the data via USB Stick

This is just a f… joke

I cant even start a flight tonight. It really is getting Tedious now

if you are on pc, you can try setting 1.1.1.1 as dns

Where would I do that please?

  1. Select the Start menu > Settings.
  2. On Network and Internet, select Change Adapter Options.
  3. Right-click on the Ethernet or Wi-Fi network you are connected to and select Properties.
  4. Choose Internet Protocol Version 4.
  5. Select Properties > Use the following DNS server addresses.

Also stuck at 2% again.
I set the DNS Server (it’s possible on XBOX too).
No difference. Just amazing how bad this game is balanced.

Yes, it’s a disaster and it’s incredible that they didn’t think of all these problems. Have you tried clearing the cache (unfortunately since I don’t play on Xbox I don’t know how to do that)?

Cleaning cache is easy. Open settings for FS24 in Xbox main menu, and click on ‚clear reserved space, ( may even had a similar name, my settings are on German…) when you start the game, it will overwrite. No worries no settings will be lost.

And in my router Inadded these to the DNS v6 server list:

dnsv6: 2606:4700:4700::1111 / 2606:4700:4700::1001

I set the rolling cache in the ingame menu to 64 GB which helped a lot.

After that I could easily start the game and even start a flight.
