Is it me or is DX11 smoother than it ever was before?

It is where your other graphics settings. Go there, switch, restart after switching.

I agree. I fly almost exclusively in VR where smoothness is even more important and perceptible. I’ve noticed an improvement too, to the extent that I actually feel more immersed.

Overall I feel we can get very focused on bugs and issues in this forum, and that is great for fixing things - but it’s nice to also notice the positive things from time to time.

On a laptop with not a great gaming GPU (P1000). I definitely have a 3-5 fps increase at cruising altitude. Scenery dense airports seem similar fos wise, but Id need to go do some analysis. Maybe it’s the new weather system that has freed up a few fps? Flying does seem a good bit smoother though.

For me, DX11 does look a bit smoother with SU7.

I tried the DX12 beta and got worse performance. The Dev Mode FPS utility showed that my GPU was causing the slowness and stutters, but in Windows Task Manager Performance Monitor, it shows VERY low GPU usage. Will be great to see what happens when the Devs focus on DX12 tuning and optimization.

Just to see if it would make a difference with DX12, I tried turning off Windows 10 Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling , rebooted, and tried it again. No change that I could see, still lower FPS and stuttering. But this would be a good thing for others to test as well. In some configurations, it might make a big difference. Just remember to reboot every time when changing to/from DX12 and/or HAGS.

FYI- my PC specs are in my profile.

Disagree with the topic - after SU7, I am finding that I have a lot more stuttering in the sim than on SU6 when on DX11. If I try DX12 it’s even worse (as expected based on dev updates).
