HI there, I presently have the RTX 2060 GPU and was wondering if it’s possible to get a more powerful External Graphics card to diminish the heat associated with the internal graphics card? and then perhaps I would be able to use the MSI Afterburner …Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA
Does your computer have a Thunderbolt port?
If it does, take a look at the Razer Core.
Hi thanks for the reply…I just contacted HP and they said that I don’t have an Thunderbolt port
I did run a 2080ti in a Razer Core Chroma over Thunderbolt for a while into my HP Spectre laptop. It did work but was a faff to setup.
Main issue was that the laptop simply couldn’t cope with that amount of effort continuously for long periods, it would start to be thermally throttled and would become a stutterfest.
Reducing the graphics quality helped as did lowering resolution and the 2080ti would be very under-utilised. When I realised the perfect settings was the same as it was before I added the eGPU it seemed pretty pointless.
Just built a desktop for simming and put the 2080ti in that
But if you wanted to try it your laptop does have 2x Thunderbolt3 full speed sockets according to the specs: HP ENVY Laptop - 15-ep0098nr (3G675UA#ABA)
