Is it worth going from 5900x to 5800x3D?
Are there any banchmarks with comparison?
I am on windscreen monitor 3440 x 1440.
I play everything on ultra with rtx3090 and getting between 30 and 60 fps.
I have am4 motherboard so cannot go to 7000 series cpu

The only benchmark comparison between a 5900X and 5800X3D with MSFS, albeit only at 1080p and in French, I can find is from this review Test • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D vs Intel Core i9-12900KS - Le comptoir du hardware
If you hover the mouse over the 5900X, it will set it as the 100% baseline and it shows the 5800X3D being 33% quicker at 1080p, which will be not as great an improvement at 1440p but should still be notably better.
What these graphs don’t show are how much smoother the 5800X3D makes MSFS, as I experienced upgrading from an i9 10850K to a 5800X3D. IMO, this is as significant an improvement as the FPS boost I achieved by upgrading.
Is that increase in smoothness visible via what the frametime graphs (DevMode) look like compared to your old chip? I guess maybe they are more stable, fluctuating less? Mine are always fluctuating, e.g. between 8 and 11ms,for example.
I haven’t looked at frame times, so the smoothness improvement that I experienced is only subjective and is quite noticeable to me.
Yes, those fps numbers are nice for 1080. But I am still looking for 3440x1440. Still didnt find any comparison.
I’m also interested in this, however, I’m running at 4K, where I’ll likely see very little difference - however, I’d still like to see some benchmarks or a first hand account from someone here. A big consideration that’s holding me back is losing the extra cores with my 5900X as I run several programs in the background when flying (eg, Volanta, Navigraph Charts, Chrome browser tabs, etc) and I mostly fly the Fenix A320. Task manager shows all cores being utilized when I have everything fired up.
I’m getting around 40-55 fps currently depending on the area with the Fenix, FSLTL/FS Traffic, and all programs fired up, sometimes dipping into the low 30s at EGLL, KLAX, etc., DX12, TAA, and Ultra settings.
I’m about to upgrade my ram from 64GB 3200 C16 to 64GB 3600 C14 so I’m hoping for a little more smoothness and maybe a few extra FPS there.
Will probably upgrade my 3090 to a 4090 once I can get my hands on one as well.
Anyone with recommendations, benchmarks or personal experience with a similar setup (software and hardware) would be welcomed!
