I think that’s the most concise and complete description of why I haven’t clicked on ‘Career Mode’ since the new sim was launched a year ago.
I don’t envy Asobo here. They need to create a new, complete economy that balances all of the payment/cost/maintenance variables across a huge range of planes and mission types and then balance everything across players from completely casual to hardcore realists.
If you make it too hard, people will quit.
If you make it too easy and you get all your certifications and have enough credits to buy anything at anytime, you’ve lost your primary motivation to continue.
My biggest issue is the current flat-rate engine replacement system. It’s completely unrealistic and unfair to the players. I expect to pay for a new engine if I’m legitimately reckless—if I crash the aircraft or consistently fly outside safe operating speeds. But the current penalty makes no sense: even if I’ve only used 1% of the engine’s life, the system forces me to pay millions for a full replacement just to handle a minor repair. This rigid policy fails to reflect the actual cost of wear-and-tear and significantly harms the player economy.
