Is RTX 4090 The Real Deal?

can somebody provide like a good build with this set up without like going broke? lol thanks

Sure, this is my build I just put together. Just a few points: the new Corsair H150i AIOs should come with the LGA1700 brackets already. I chose a 1200W PSU to get the full 600W 12VHPWR cable to use with the Gigabyte 4090. Keep in mind that PSU power specs mandate a >1200W PSU for the 600W 12VHPWR capability, while 1000W will be limited to a 450W 12VHPWR cable. I think even for this build, 1200W is overkill but necessary if you want to have the full 600W power limit on the 4090. A few parts I purchased, like the motherboard and PSU, go in and out of stock so you’ll have to be patient to purchase.

As always, the final build pic. I haven’t adjusted the RGB lighting much yet - will be a work in progress.

I was up and running last week, but was waiting on CableMod to send the last 6-pin PCIe power cable I needed for 60W USB-C charging power. It came… now my 7950x / 4090 build is finally complete.

Mine:
Corsair 5000D Airflow case
Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard
Gainward Phantom RTX 4090 GPU (overclocked a little)
Intel 13900K (overclocked)
32gb Corsair DDR5 5600 memory (but overclocked to 6000+)
4tb Seagate Firecuda 530 Gen 4 NVMe
Corsair 1200W HX Series PSU
Corsair iCUE H150i Elite cooler
MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD 32 inch 4K 144mhz monitor

All of that, plus a few other bits and bobs, cost me c. £5,300. But I’m getting 70-110fps in 4K, all at Ultra, using Google Maps at high LOD and with FSLTL running too. I’m happy with that!

If I were not attending an Aviation college I would have gotten the 4090 in a heart-beat.

I am just drooling looking at those videos with MSFS running @100fps

I think the 4090 would be way overkill for my 3440x1440 monitor.

Gigabyte Aorus Master Z790 motherboard
Gigabyte Gamer OC RTX 4090 GPU (overclocked a little)
Intel 13900K (overclocked) 6 ghz
32gb Gskill DDR5 6400 memory
Samsung 980 pro Gen 4 NVMe
MSI 1000W PSU ATX 3.0
MSI MAG Core Liquid 360R V2 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
Acer X35 @200hz 3440x1440 (Paid 4,000) a few years back.

Total cost of new PC $6,000 CND
Had to pay a scapler $500 more for the video card as there are none in Canada and won’t be any for a long time as all stock headed for Canada is being scalped in China. Zero making it to retail stores in Canada. As a side note, The RTX 3090 only became available in retail stores in Canada just 6 months ago. Scaplers and miners kept stock off the shelves in Canada for over a year and half. Expect the same thing with RTX4090.

My new PC is also a heater as I have a 5 inch dyer ducting coming off the back of it.
It’s also the last build I’m every going to do, too much money, too much BS and too much power. I’ll buy a boat and Harley and invite you’'all to my house for beers before I go on this merry go-round again. MSFS runs great now. Very pleased.

Cheers,

Looking at what you are spending on all of your hardware, folks, I’m wondering what is less expensive:
a) Flying a Cessna in FS2020, or
b) Flying a Cessna in real life…

Well, the money you spend on hardware certainty lasts longer :slightly_smiling_face:

There’s people that spend thousands of dollars on shoes, yet they only need two pairs of shoes. Everyone has their own ways of spending. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing if you can afford it

@xxYUNIORxx Oh, I agree. No disrespect intended. Cars, boats, planes, shoes, dresses, handbags, garden plants, FS2020… All have you peering into your wallet at the end of the month, wondering why nothing is there…

Just bought a new PC with a RTX 4090 and i9-13900K. Really excited for it to arrive and use MSFS with it.

I took the plunge at bought a 4090. My system specs were AMD 5900X, 3080 (10GB), 32GB RAM, 750W PSU, HP Reverb G2 I swapped in a Gigabyte 4090. Wow, amazing improvement. I have been able to push up OpenXR render to 200, increase graphic options to high/ultra and get about a 20-30fps boost on what I was getting before. Amazing clarity and really smooth and it feels like the card is not breaking a sweat. Next on the upgrade list is either the AMD 7000 X3D CPU or 13900. Waiting for the comparison next year as no rush with my current performance. I was thinking about waiting for the AMD 7900XT which should get close to the 4090 in raster, but I decided that Nvidia tech such as DLSS and the potential for the optical flow motion to be used in VR (Motion Reprojection or DLSS 3 equivalent) was playing it safe. If AMD show this gen that they can get their drivers working well, a DLSS 3 equivalent, and performance is excellent in VR then I may choose them in the next generation of GPU’s. Very happy with the performance boost from a 4090. Finally, no issues at all running this with my EVGA 750 PSU at stock (OC provides a negligible performance boost anyhow). Power-hungry and high thermals are a myth.

I have to say flying irl is a lot more rewarding experience of course if you have the resources. I have not taken flight lessons in nearly two months. Will be back up in the air in January. I am afraid I am going to be really rusty. Thankfully the sim is a good side aid

For sure, only flying IRL and if you want to keep current…now that is expensive. Great if/when you can though :+1:

I have just upgraded to a Zotac 4090 (from Ebuyer UK) and I am having issues with it crashing FS almost everytime I run. (5950X)

I am still investigating, but its very annoying, doesn’t seem to happen in other games and I am not overclocking.

When it does work though, its pretty epic, ULTRA everything 4k wide screen in London or New York and its running 100+ fps, its quite something.

Just want to note that even an 11900k with an 4090 will bring a lot of joy.

Premium Z590 boards are going cheaper and cheaper, even EVGA’s Z590 DARK’s show up starting from 200$, add some shiny DDR4 3600 od 4000 CL14 royal elite’s and you you are good for smooth 45fps almost anywhere in VR. Picking up an 11900k for about 300$ that counts 600$-700$ alltogether for an yesterdays cadillac.

For an Maximus Extreme, 13900k and 32GB of DDR5-7000 we are talking of 2300$ instead. No question how adorable they are, this is right now still to much for me just for to have the latest chrome in the garage.

But when money is no object better today than tommorow
