Good evening,
I created a flight plan from Moorabbin, Aus, to Kalispell, Montana, US and want to fly in a Cessna 172 so I selected Low Altitude VR. The flight plan plotted a great circle plan across the Pacific Ocean. All good.
I don’t know how to edit the flight plan or add waypoints around more land masses, so I took off, settled at 7,000 ft and am currently over the western Pacific Ocean.
To get to each waypoint quickly, I use the Slew control, Y, and let go just before the next point. The plane corrects its heading and once through the waypoint I go into Slew mode once again.
The slew speed is 7,500 somethings. I don’t know if it’s knots, kmph, mph or whatever - but it’s quite fast! Too fast for looking around.
Is there a way to change this speed? I would like to use it to look around some of the islands I’m flying over.
Thanks for reading.
Peter
why not using the speed rate instead of slew mode ?
Well, the speed rate, R, speeds up time, which I don’t always want, particularly if I want to land in daylight.
Also, the dynamics of the plane come into play such that oscillations in yaw begin and soon get out of control when the rate gets too high. The highest I can set for stable flight is 4x which is far too slow to get anywhere compared to slew mode.
I use time speed rate when parked at an airport waiting for daylight.
Hello all,
topic user can say that if (also I use this) we can move aircraft f.ex. on Aprone to another position, is hard to do it correctly, slew speed is very high.
