Is there any current Sim Rate indicator that I'm missing?

Someone please enlighten me! I’ve been playing the sim quite successfully so far on PC(Steam), but something bugs me lately: when I fly an airliner a long distance, say KJFK to KLAX, I always use the increase sim rate (press it 2 or 3 times after reaching cruise altitude, then press decrease 2 or 3 times during descent).

Sometimes I forget whether I pressed 2 or 3 times the increase button though, so I don’t know how many times I must press the decrease to go back to normal sim speed. This makes some landings confusing when I realize I’m coming in a little too fast or too slow and then remember it’s not the plane’s actual speed, it’s the sim rate that is still different than 1x.

Is there any visual indicator that tells me the current sim rate? I just can’t locate it. Thank you!

There isn’t any that I know of by default. But you can install the “SHIFT + Z” inforbar from flight.to that has a Simrate indicator.

Alternatively: just press the Reduce Sim Rate key a few times until you can be sure that you have reached the lowest sim rate setting and then press the Increase Sim Rate key twice. Since there are only two settings below the normal sim rate (1/2 speed and 1/4 speed), pressing the Increase key twice, will set it to 1, which is real time.

Here is the Shift + Z thingy:

Thank you so much Jigsaw407, your suggestion (press reduce a few times and then increase twice) is a very fast and convenient solution to my issue, I will use it!

You’re welcome!

To agree with @Jigsaw407, I also use the Shift+Z addon. You can customize what is displayed on that with different statuses by cycling it - more than just sim rate (but if you only want that - you can set it up with it). If you don’t want it there, just cycle with Shift+Z until it’s gone. :+1:
