Is there anything that lists what assets are part of what editions of MSFS?

Here’s the problem.

My MSFS 2024 Aviator Edition, (the BIG one), crashed and returned with a “start in safe mode” prompt, which I accepted.

The immediate result is that the sim appeared to disable everything in the marketplace => library part of the install as a part of “restart[inig] in safe mode”

The good news is that the sim now starts without crashing.

The bad news is that I don’t know what’s supposed to be there. For example, all my aircraft are missing except for one small airplane and one helicopter. Also, it appears that my controller settings are also history.

I want to - slowly - restore what’s supposed to be there in the fully installed package, but the library part of the marketplace is a mess of things that are part of MSFS 2020, 2024, and perhaps purchased items.

Is there anything that tells me what is part of the original installation for the various editions of 2024 so that I can re-enable what should be there?

What I do (in FS2020, 2024 may be different) after a successful Safe Mode boot is force-close the sim in Task Manager, which causes the sim to open the ‘Safe Mode/Normal Mode’ dialog on next startup. After restarting the sim, I select Normal Mode, and all my addons are back.

You should give this a try, because re-enabling all those addons is a royal pain.

If the sim keeps acting up, with everything removed, add them back in groups, testing between each group.

The problem is that stuff gets added, changed, etc., as the sim is used, planes and scenery are added, configurations are changed, etc.

If I want to go back to status-quo - the “as-shipped” configuration - I need to know exactly what that “as-shipped” configuration is, and I’d like to be able to do it without having to remove and re-install the entire flight simulator from scratch.

Viz:

  • Nothing added.
  • Default packages added.
  • Everything added.

Adding things one-by-one can be both time consuming and potentially counterproductive. I want to be able to put things back in logical groups starting with known configurations.

This is especially true for FS-2024 as the library is polluted with a lot of “MSFS 2020” entries and I cannot find any way to limit the library view to only those packages that are actually a part of the version of 2024 that I bought.

Right now, the ONLY way I know to return the sim to the “out-of-box-experience” state is to completely remove and re-install the entire sim - which takes at least a week to complete.

There really should be:

  1. A detailed BOM, (Bill of Materials), detailing exactly what is part of the as-shipped build for each SKU for each version of the simulator. (2020 and 2024)
  2. A way to “reset” the simulator to the as-shipped, as-installed configuration prior to extra content being added.
  3. A way to save current configurations, as in “system restore” or “time-shift”, where a particular configuration can be saved and restored when things go south.

This article shows how to return to a vanilla sim:
