Is there really any true pause?

Well, everyone just glossed over my suggestion to use Flow and the option it has to freeze the time of day. Just 3 clicks. Want it easier than that? Like, thought controlled via a brain implant??

AI traffic isnā€™t real, but I know what you meant.

I think many passengers out there would be a bit miffed when the OP paused his sim

Hereā€™s an example of what I mean. Descending from FL190 to FL 140 my doorbell rang. Paused sim and answered the door. I was with the person at the door for 30 minutes, when I came back ATC instructed me to descend to FL 300. That would have been impossible so two hours of flying was wasted. FSX and P3D this would have been possible.

there are two pause function in the game, just bind a key to the ā€œpauseā€ not ā€œactive pauseā€.

I have done that, still doesnā€™t work as a complete pause.

Turn on Developer Mode, then select pause from the Options menu. This stops time completely.

See this post which explains the various pause options:

Bottom line is the sim is live. Pause canā€™t make it un-live so you need to live with some consequences.

Using Set Pause on/off freezes everything about your aircraft but not the world around you and its the most effective pause solution.

I will give that a try.
Thanks.

Set Pause ON vs Active Pause.

Set Pause ON will freeze everything except Live Traffic, Live Weather and the time. Thatā€™s the best youā€™ll get option-wise.

It also kills any logged time you have so if your one that likes your log book to be complete thatā€™s not going to help.

Ahh, fair point, I didnā€™t realise it affects the logbook, as I donā€™t use it.

However, the dev mode pause is the only one that works with some external flight tracking programs such as FS Economy, as they use the takeoff & landing times to track the flight.

The Sim is not live for everyone. And you can freeze everything if you want to.

And how would I do that?

The real 100% freeze pause is the dev mode pause feature, as someone already mentioned.

Every animation and calculation etc. should freeze. The downside is, the flighttime doesnt get logged, but if you have to make safe breaks during your flight, your logged flighttime wouldnt be real in the first place.

If you dont fly with live weather or live traffic you also can just use the pause (not active pause) binding (by default not bound to anything) or hit esc during your flight. Animations of other entities may still be running, but your aircraft and your atc interaction is on hold.

And I dont know how long you are flying in the sim already, the atc sometimes just gives you wrong altitudes, based on wrong databases, so that you are often way to high for your appoach. Then you just can try to manually request lower alitudes, which you often dont get cleared to, then you just have to ignore the atc.

Cheers

I have been flying for a VA for many years. It uses a version ACARS to record my flight and then enter the results to my logbook and my pilot records which of course records my flight from pushback to parking at a gate. Would the dev. mode effect that ACARS report?

Sounds good. Happy flying.

No, the DEV Mode would not effect ACARS afaik. Acars uses simconnect to determine you flight parameters, so that should be no problem.
