This is the first time I’ve noticed it, but I believe it’s new to SU11.
Pretty cool!
Always been there. A bit over done.
Really? I don’t ever remember seeing it. Interesting.
But it always reflects a FULL Moon ?
I don’t think it’s necessarily overdone. If the moon is low on the horizon, then you can definitely see very prominent reflections in real life.
I flew to Boston one time (IRL), and after that was heading up to southern Maine for a few days. During the flight, I could see a brilliant full moon out the window. Later, after I checked into my hotel in Maine, I walked out onto the sea cliffs in the dark and was stunned by a vision of the full moon just above the ocean creating such a bright reflection that it looked like there was a footpath of moonlight clear to the horizon. It was stunning. Looked like you could walk on it.
I love the bugs that never get fixed despite being reported in 2020.
Asobo REALLY need a team working on qol bugs because with their gigantic backlog full of bugs, the’ll never, ever address those one.
Like the moon being really huge in VR since day one.
Would be nice to be able to “CLONE” Working Title !!
My guess is that they may get fixed with ray tracing.
However they fix it, it should be fixed for all users and not just those with high-end graphics cards.
With DLSS and DX12 for example, FS2020 SU11 is already more and more demanding on hardware - it looks like even my 11GB of VRAM is no longer sufficient. I wish they would just concentrate on getting the core simulator working properly.
Screen space reflections should solve it as well, we don’t need ray tracing for that, ray tracing is good n all, but we are severely resource limited unless one has top of the line PC, particularly on the CPU side of things, and raytracing as far as I understand has a substantial CPU cost as well.
And MSFS already has screen space reflections. It’s most probably just a BUG that needs squashing.
I noticed that too. The reflection on the water is a full moon last night even though the moon was barely lit.
And I wish they’d stop focusing on things no one is asking for and fix the bugs.
Agreed
Also when flying in VR at night the stars are in front of the clouds, been like that since they implemented VR.
That’s a little short sighted in my opinion. You think things are being worked on, that nobody asked for, but none of us have ever seen the internal roadmap. We have a general published roadmap, but the internal roadmap, that Asobo and MS are using, is likely different based on the pace of work getting completed. I’d hate to see the sim become stagnant while they track down some minor bug, like moonlight reflections. I guess if we’re talking about moonlight reflections, then the sim is in a pretty good spot overall.
No, I think most of us wish they’d focus on bugs that have been highly voted on and have been open since August 2020… ie melted photogrammetry or photogrammetry not rendering correctly, over exposure and brightness settings for HDR, AI traffic still not working well, live weather radar still not sent to 3rd party AC, etc etc etc.
See, that’s what I’m talking about. Your first point photogrammetry. They’ve said repeatedly, that the data for PG is the data for PG, and they have no control over that. Some PG data is better than others. It’s unrealistic to say they should be working on this. Work on it how? Create some epic software that can create new PG data out of thin air?
There are too many things that you, I , and the community at large don’t know about how MFS works under the hood, that saying stuff like the PG comment, demonstrates unrealistic expectations, that likely will never be met, because it’s just not reasonably possible.
We have never heard this officially about PG and it’s been asked several times.
We’re not talking about “oh this building doesn’t look accurate” - we’re talking about it just renders as pyramids from a distance of 2 miles or more out for several people. It doesn’t even fully render until you’re practically on top of it.
Also, the other bugs — what’s the excuse for that? I know how development works. My comment still stands true even if you disagree.
Yes we have. Jorge has talked about it more than once in the Q&A’s. The PG is a combo of Bing, and private sector such as municipalities, and governments. If they can get license to use better PG than Bing they try, if they don’t get permission, then it is what it is. The data is the data when it comes to PG.
