Important note: This thread is strictly about simulator accuracy and airport data. Please keep discussions focused on that only and not politics.
I wanted to document several critical discrepancies regarding airport data in Israel within MSFS2024. After extensive testing, here are the key technical issues affecting flight planning and navigation:
Current Data Discrepancies:
Non-Existent Airports Still Active In-Sim:
Sde Dov (LLSD): Decommissioned 2019
Atarot (LLJR): Non-operational since 2000
Old Eilat Airport (LLET): Decommissioned 2019
Dimona Airfield: Permanently closed
Ramon International (LLER) Implementation Issues:
Visible in satellite terrain data
Not implemented as functional airport
Missing terminal infrastructure
Missing airport designation in nav database
Technical Impact:
Navigation database conflicts
IFR approach planning disruption
Has anyone encountered additional discrepancies in the region? Would be helpful to compile a comprehensive list for the development team to address in future updates.
The more documentation we can provide, the better chance of seeing these issues resolved in upcoming updates.
Showing in sim - operational? (I think not for over 20 years)
LLJU Judeida Makr Airport ??
LLCDB Gulf Sands Reserve ??
Just flew out of Haifa, up along the coast to Savyanei Yam and then up Route 4 to the LLCDB helipad (across from Kfar Masaryk between Acco and Haifa). Sim has a big depression in the center of a “chalk on dirt” helipad. Not a nice place to land my Cabri G2 Heli. (Just figured out it is within the bounds of Rafael there.)
I then flew to the sim’s Judeida Makr LLJU strip. Sim has it modeled as an asphalt strip beautifully laid out in the BarLev Industrial park east of Kibbutz Yasur and Ahihud. The sim even displayed planned approach points and a holding pattern!
(We have to give credit to MSFS2024 for trying to be helpful.)
Google Maps shows the asphalt strip there, but even Google maps are often very out of date. I can’t find any Internet references to this strip, current or historical.
