Issues with Driver 572.16 in VR (Aero Varjo)

I have the following system:
Win11, Aero Varjo with the latest software and firmware, Nvidia RTX 4090, Intel i9 13900K, 64 GB RAM.
The Aero Varjo runs at 39ppd without any additional settings like synchronization or similar…

After updating the driver (the DLSS file remains unchanged at version V3.7.20),
the VR settings in the simulator are set to DLSS-Quality, I suddenly noticed the following behavior:

In MSFS 2024, everything seems fine at first, but after a few minutes of flying in VR mode, severe stuttering begins. FPS drop from around 40 to below 20, followed by freezes that last several seconds, eventually leading to a CTD. The issue can be triggered faster by moving the head quickly.
The event log records a BEX64 exception in the VRSERVER.EXE module (Steam VR).

In MSFS 2020, this effect does not occur at all, and I can use driver version 572.16 without any issues (with DX11).

After reinstalling the previous driver (566.36), VR in MSFS 2024 runs smoothly again.

If I use DLSS version V310.2.1 or V3.8.10 in MSFS 2024, even with the old driver (566.36),
similar issues as described above occur.

In MSFS 2020, these versions run perfectly.

Does anyone have an idea?
By the way, I have already uninstalled the Nvidia app…

Thanks for any advice,
Michael

I was having the same exact issue with my Q3 RTX 4080S setup. The flight started fine and then after a couple of minutes big audio cracklings and huge fps drop occurred making the sim unplayable. In FS2020 all was fine instead. Rolled back to 566.36 + DLSS Swapper + NV Profile Inspector to benefit from v310.2.1 Profile K and everything went back to normal.

Yes, exactly. I had the same audio crackling.
And you don’t have any problems with the old Nvidia driver 566.36 and DLSS 310.2.1, or did I misunderstand?
For me, all profiles > 3.7.20 also cause such effects, although I only tested profile J.

Same here. 13900k 4090, 64gb ram, Crystal OG. W11 24H2. Sim update Beta

With 566.36 v310.2.1 profile K via NV Inspector all is ok.

You’re right, I just tested it again with 566.36 v310.2.1 profile K. It worked for me in this configuration too

Hello I have the same issue. Therefore I have downgraded the driver, use DLSS Swapper fine, and run Invidia Inspector but there I do not see the entries to activate the Profile K… How do you have activate it? Should I have backup my profile before and then reimport it ?

Ok found it. The names are changed. Have to download the very latest NVIDIA profile inspdctor

Same identical issue with the 13700 KF and 4070 Ti. Not a super PC, but I was enjoying VR perfectly before the new driver update.

turn “fauna” off, that fixed it for me.

I’ve heard other telling that fauna OFF is fixing the cracklings/freezings issue with the new driver. So it’s definitely a 2024 problem.

Same symptoms. Rolled back to Dec 5 driver and everything returned to normal. Pimax Crystal Light - GeForce RTX4080Super. Some YT vids out there already that this driver (Jan 30) breaks a lot of stuff.

Same issues with Aero. (RTX3090/14900K)
Also, a new beta 1.3.13 ruined the VR experience. Now I get 20-25 fps. The previous beta was 35-40. But stutters occur after a few minutes of the flight.
2020 is perfectly smooth with 50-60fps.

Found this simple item on VR Flight Sim Guy’s 2024 Discussion thread:

Under VR graphics → Fauna OFF.

Solved all my problems. Currently running NVidia 572.42 (2/13/25).
