Issues with HDR as curently implamented in Game

We are unable to Set HDR within Game unless the HDR Monitor is set as the Primary Monitor within Windows 10.

Most Modern games allow you to set primary Display within settings of the game. FS2020 does not.

We need a way to Set a Primary Monitor within the game so that HDR can function Independent of the Windows 10 Settings for Primary Monitor.

I have Tried using the Shift + Win (Arrow Keys) to Change the Which Monitor to User. Unfortunately this will not work if the monitor you move your source to is not set as Primary.

This Needs to be Fixed.

Thanks,

It also depends on the monitor itself, for me I use a 4K HDR TV, and I keep the Windows HDR setting ON at all times. And my TV automatically calibrates the colours accordingly. So whenever I run MSFS on HDR mode it automatically shows HDR content, and when showing SDR content like browsing and in windows, my TV autocalibrates the colours accordingly as well. So I never really need to switch between having HDR on and Off.

I am aware of several reports coming from some monitors that doesn’t do this automatically, so that you need to set HDR mode on Windows before you start MSFS, then once you do, the colours washout until you actually run MSFS. So the monitor doesn’t have the ability to recalibrate automatically based on the signal.

What I observe is that most of these issues are coming from HDR monitors that are connected with DisplayPort cable. Since I use my 4K HDR TV, I am using an HDMI 2.1 cable and set as Enhanced HDMI mode for it to work. So maybe, if your monitor supports HDMI 2.1 that maybe you can try to see if that works? I can’t guarantee of course, I don’t have a capable HDR monitor to test this theory. The 4K HDR TV that I have is the only display I have that I can connect to my PC.

I don’t recall any difference to HDR using HDMI vs DisplayPort for me, both worked fine – but G-Sync only works with DisplayPort.

In both cases I use HDR “on” all the time, and SDR content and HDR content co-exist on the primary monitor, with additional SDR content on the SDR-only second monitor.

I am using a LG CX 55’… LG specifically released an upgrade to address most of the issues with how HDR via HDMI 2.1. From what i can see from the DirectX Diag … the TV is reporting correctly and i have it configured correctly with a reduced resolution so I can Have the other 2x 3440x1440 monitors on. Otherwise, Windows will force one of the monitors to shutdown.

I’m running a RTX3090 Founders Edition (W/ Bios Upgrade) and a AMD Thread-ripper x2550. I upgraded my cable to the new HDMI 2.1 Certified by the HDMI Working Group. Also made sure that the cable was not too long where the Signal would degrade without Active circuitry.

I am sure this is a game short coming on how HDR is implemented and the Lack of letting the user select the Monitor the game to use on full-screen. I currently have the LG CX TV working as an extended secondary monitor using HDR. When I want to use the LG CX for Flight sim, I have to denote it as the primary monitor and reboot. =(
