It ruins the overal quality more then it does good. It could also be transparent and not shown at all if we can’t get a toggle option.
Two examples of what I mean:

I agree, maybe there is something in the main cfg file?
This was a great addition to Xplane when I was using Orbx scenery. Hopefully they can add transparent roads to MSFS.
I searched for it but there are no (loose) files to set OSM parameters. And having a hard time to find what exactly triggers the road overlay with debugger.
The road traffic probably uses those but no reason to show the overlay though.
Edit: And the road, tarmac, dirt Highres textures are part of the (probably) big files loaded, so I can’t edit and/or hide them.
Make this votable!
Yes would be great to get rid of it - why would anyone want to see it, apart from debugging?
There is a way to remove the blurry texture by adding a polygon but you have to make sure to only outline the road or it removes all of the 3d grass.
You basically outline the road then add a material from the decal section, think it was asobo decal 3 and it removes the blurry lines and is see through.
But it would take forever to do that manually everywhere.
I think you’d be better off making a Wishlist topic for this here:

Maybe there’s already a topic there for it. Use the search function before you post it.
I’ll throw my vote in if you post it there.
This is near Roy’s cafe at Amboy route66… While Roys isn’t even in the game the road is weird from the sky, but even weirder from the ground…
I’ve send a admin message to ask if it can be moved to vote on, thanks.
It’s now moved and votable, thanks @Hester40MT and it was possible to move topics ourself it seems.
There is no OpenStreetMap overlay there, it’s ‘just’ a blurry road.
Probably a dirt road, which are excluded from the overlay.
You happen to know the name of the road texture overlay perhaps? Dont want to add polygons to all the roads on the whole world. The road highres, tarmac highres textures are loaded in memory, but nameless.
Great, voted
No idea just assumed it takes it from the road name overlay on bing maps.
Yeah of course nobody would want to do that. I usually just do the surrounding roads when making an airport.
I see i tagged the wrong pic, schould have been one with the road overlay 100ft right from the road itself. One of the more busier parts of route66. Normal road, no dirt road and Bing Maps doesn’t even cover it as a road.
Same as a lot of roads my house (near Eindhoven airport in the Netherlands). Bing maps is so much less evolved as google maps…
Too much road overlays are so off from the real roads. Also too much roads aren’t even considered roads in the game.
Same as some roads which are rivers in the game and rivers which are roads btw
I was looking for such a topic to share the feedback of my 11 years old son:
He was playing with MSFS and then he called me to ask me why they put Scotch Tape on the ground.
First I did not know what he was talking about but obviously, he pointed the transparent road stripes over the aerial imagery…
Disabling them is a nice quick win…
But obviously a more robust 3D road / highway, intersection etc system that could probably use the same tech as the vegetation when it comes to picking the color hues of the underneath texture to avoid having clean vector roads standing out… More challenges would be to make roads remain horizontal on elevations…
So just a little message from my 11 years old son to MSFS dev: "please remove the scotch tapes on the ground "
