Just about to fly from Shoreham airport and its pitch black in the game - I can assure you its bright outside right now

Looks like your observation is linked to this wish:

Brightness during sunset/sunrise and twilight hours should be higher

Sky brightness and ground illumination when the sun is low in the sky or below the horizon is too low. Times where it should be practically daylight outside, looks like nautical twilight or darker in the sim.
